Green Jack Mahseer IPA
Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear pale amber colour with a frothy white head. Aroma of orange, a little grapefruit, slight grain, some fruity esters and subtle floral hops. Taste of orange, grapefruit, some fruit, slight grain, a little honey and subtle spicy, floral hops. Medium bodied and an oily texture. A dry, astringent, spicy hop bitterness in the finish. Citrus and syrupy fruits are dominant in this beer but so is the spicy, bitter astringency that follows. Didn’t enjoy this.

Cask. Aroma muted hops fruits. Pours orange amber with thin lace. Taste is toasted malt but a growing hoppy bitterness leads to quite a sharp mouth-drying finish. Thirst-quenching but not entirely in a good way.

Green Jack Mahseer IPA
Cask handpull at The Webb Ellis Twickenham as ’Green Jack Mahseer IPA’. Pale amber orange, clear and still with a small but dense beige head, thick lacing. Aroma is faint lemongrass, light grapefruit. Body is smooth with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste has a lot of elderflower, some drying straw and bitter herbs, fairly astringent, lasting finish. Not bad but there’s a big focus on the astringency - I found it a little unbalanced. Decent though.

Very dark brown, clear, small spongy head. Liquorice aroma, something menthol-like, even getting terveleijona pastils. Taste also very liquoricey. Bitter finish, lasts a long time. Has a bittering hop fingerprint I associate with Bramling Cross. Nice one, good breakfast beer.

Cask at the Triangle Tavern, Lowestoft, 21/11/16. Clear golden orange with a decent off white head that retains well. Nose is sweet malt, caramel, booze tunes, light honey, orange peel. Taste comprises caramel, sweet malt, fruit cake, candied orange, bread pudding, toasted grains. Full bodied, soft carbonation, light warming booze in the close. Easy drinking barley wine but a touch 1D. Some local chugged a pint of this (1pm) in less time than it took 2 of us to get through a half!

Green Jack Lurcher Stout
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) on the 13th November 2016. Cask, handpump dispense. Black ruby in colour with a thin creamy pale buff head. Malty aroma with overtones of dark berry fruit. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malt complex gives a thin moist maltloaf base with plump bramble fruit, chocolate malt, molasses and roast grain. Dry hoppy prickle adds a dusty bitter aftertaste with cereal elements to the resins. Malty finish with overripe bramble, molasses and dark chocolate evident in the mouth. A cracking session stout and highly recommended.

Green Jack Lurcher Stout
Cask HP at Hamilton Hall London as Green Jack Lurcher Stout. Dark brown, opaque, red hue when held to light, foamy light brown head leaves full lacing. Aroma is toffee, soft roast, dark breads. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is toffee and ash, twigs, woody, boiled sweets, burnt biscuit, light fudge offset by an ashy astringency. This is phenomenally well judged and flavourful for the abv. A mini triumph. I would happily drink many pints of this one. One of the best stouts I’ve tasted.
