Green Jack Mahseer IPA
Cask handpull at The Webb Ellis Twickenham as ’Green Jack Mahseer IPA’. Pale amber orange, clear and still with a small but dense beige head, thick lacing. Aroma is faint lemongrass, light grapefruit. Body is smooth with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste has a lot of elderflower, some drying straw and bitter herbs, fairly astringent, lasting finish. Not bad but there’s a big focus on the astringency - I found it a little unbalanced. Decent though.

Draught (Ivory Peg, Chelmsford)
Very dark brown, clear, small spongy head. Liquorice aroma, something menthol-like, even getting terveleijona pastils. Taste also very liquoricey. Bitter finish, lasts a long time. Has a bittering hop fingerprint I associate with Bramling Cross. Nice one, good breakfast beer.

Green Jack Red Herring
Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in April 2014 - Deep Amber Red in colour. Good head. Good lacing. Malty; mildly roasty malts, relatively subtle smoke, faint hint of smoked ham, caramel. Fruity; mild berry fruit, hint of citrus. Syrupy. Hoppy; grassy hops. Sweet smoky malty fruity throughout. Dry smoky finish. Liked it. Very drinkable. (2014-04-12)

Cask at the Triangle Tavern, Lowestoft, 21/11/16. Clear golden orange with a decent off white head that retains well. Nose is sweet malt, caramel, booze tunes, light honey, orange peel. Taste comprises caramel, sweet malt, fruit cake, candied orange, bread pudding, toasted grains. Full bodied, soft carbonation, light warming booze in the close. Easy drinking barley wine but a touch 1D. Some local chugged a pint of this (1pm) in less time than it took 2 of us to get through a half!

Green Jack Jenny Morgan Bitter
Cask at the Triangle Tavern, Lowestoft, 21/11/16. Light chestnut brown meets copper with a well presented off white head that stays for the duration of the half, a picture perfect bitter! Nose is malt forward, biscuit, toffee, fruit rinds. Taste comprises biscuit malt, earthy fruits, brown bread, pinch of tobacco, touch of toffee. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a light bittering effect. In absolutely top notch condition ... one of the best bitters I’ve had!

Green Jack Lurcher Stout
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) on the 13th November 2016. Cask, handpump dispense. Black ruby in colour with a thin creamy pale buff head. Malty aroma with overtones of dark berry fruit. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malt complex gives a thin moist maltloaf base with plump bramble fruit, chocolate malt, molasses and roast grain. Dry hoppy prickle adds a dusty bitter aftertaste with cereal elements to the resins. Malty finish with overripe bramble, molasses and dark chocolate evident in the mouth. A cracking session stout and highly recommended.

cask half-pint in my local Wetherspoons on 9th Nov 2016. Deep ruby/brown body under a good depth of a lightly tanned foam. Usual stout aromas and taste: malty molasses, but not sweet, some hedgerow fruits and a hint of chocolate on a bed of smooth toffee: liked it.

Aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla, dark fruits and treacle. Moderate level of sweet and bitter. Full bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Holds it’s alcohol level well. Very very nice.

Green Jack Lurcher Stout
Cask HP at Hamilton Hall London as Green Jack Lurcher Stout. Dark brown, opaque, red hue when held to light, foamy light brown head leaves full lacing. Aroma is toffee, soft roast, dark breads. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is toffee and ash, twigs, woody, boiled sweets, burnt biscuit, light fudge offset by an ashy astringency. This is phenomenally well judged and flavourful for the abv. A mini triumph. I would happily drink many pints of this one. One of the best stouts I’ve tasted.

Mistakenly purchased after poor reading of the beer menu at the new bell Inn not realising the strength. Expected it to set my teeth on edge but rather recieved a pleasant taste. The taste makes the strength obvious but not paint stripper territory.

Green Jack Trawlerboys Best Bitter
Cask, handpull at The Railway Putney as ’Green Jack Trawlerboys Best Bitter’, 4.6%. Dark amber orange, clear, still, foamy dense white head, thick lacing. Aroma is airy and light, some apple. Body is smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is light, bready, apple peel, varnish, some tang, some twig. Very plain by comparison to, say, the Nethergate bitters I had on the same day. Lacking the character and drinkability that the best beers in the style possess.

Gravity cask at the Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2016. Golden in colour, very clear with a wispy white head. Light aroma of orchard fruit with some sulphur and citrus. Bittersweet taste which is high on the astringency. Bitter and slightly sadly aftertaste with some hard citrus, almost like a tequila slammer without the tequila. All in all an OK beer.

Cask. Pour golden with thin cream top. Aroma citrus. Taste sweet with red grapefruit and caramel malt. Slightly over-carbonated for my taste. Soft hoppy finish - medium body at best. The pale ales have become so numerous that it’s getting harder for the passable to good to compete. Especially in Nottingham where local brewers are outstanding.

Bottle from 3at3, drunk at home. Hazy golden brown, with a smattering of white head. Tempting marmalade aroma, with a bit of lemon peel. Taste is a jammy sweet/spicy, simple but delicious. Well judged carbonation lifts the body, and there’s a sweet orangeadey hit right at the end. I really enjoyed this, perfect for an autumn evening. Update: Handpull cask at the Sun Inn, Waterbeach. Not changing the rating as still very very good, but the cask version has a sulphurous note that was absent in the bottle.
