Westerham Hop Rocket India Pale Ale (Bottle)
Bottle bought online from Beer Gonzo and shared at the 3rd Ipswich bottle share. Pours a hazy amber colour with a bubbly white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, and is moderately hoppy. Quite heavy sweetness and moderate citrus bitterness created something a bit muddled. Medium body and sticky texture. Average carbonation. Not as hoppy as many of today’s IPA’s.

Swietny Bitter, tak metny jakby lopate piachu dosypac, niespotykane to w brytyjskich piwach. Piwa stoji niczym snieg zima na szcytach Himalajii. Piekna rosnie wnet jak ciasto drozdzowe w piekarniku. Kolor pomaranczowy, metny, zapach cytrusowy z dodatkiem chleba pszenno-zytniego. Kwaskowa nuta lekka towarzyszy po kazdym przelknietym lyku. Super.

Clear reddish beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: weird, something bad, overripe to rotten fruits, medlar. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: weird bitterness, some banana, pretty bitter, tannins, sugary touch. Aftertaste: overripe fruits, malty, cow fodder, unpleasant bitterness.

Westerham Audit Ale
500ml bottle (Ales by Mail)
Rich amber, small tight beige head. Nice resiny aroma, plenty of esters, and loads of caramelly malts. Fullish sweetish palate, pleasant carbonation sometimes a little high. Quirky in the mouth, not quite what I expected from the aroma. Plenty of caramel, some resiny herbal bitterness, later some earthier aspects and pencil shavings. Finish has a low throb of bitterness. Decent strong ale, but I’d like the carbonation a bit lower.

No head left; clear metallic-cognac coloured beer. Cheesy!! Molten cheese, bit vegetal, ureum. Again cheesy, faintly sweet, finish is metallic-bitterish. Very light body; long bitter aftertaste. Not great. The crude UK hops have to give all the taste - and who cares about the gluten?

My Bottom Line:
Oranges color this Bitter’s tea-like hoppiness, as floral angles tag along the lingering fruitiness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the translucent golden.
-The mouthfeel is smooth and geared towards high drinkability.
-The barely prickly, natural carbonation is pleasant.
-The floral hop character is a bit soapy at times.

On cask at The John Logie Baird, Hastings.

Westerham Hop Rocket India Pale Ale (Bottle)
Served in a snifter from a 330ml bottle. Pours clear orange-gold amber colour with a medium white foam head leaving decent lacing in the glass. Aroma is citrus, caramel, biscuit, floral with spicy hoppy notes. Taste is citrus, caramel, bitter-sweet orange, slightly nutty, slight bitter aftertaste with a tangy slightly dray finish. Medium to full body with medium carbonation. More hops in the nose would have made this beer even more enjoyable. However, it is still a nice and easy to drink decent brew.

Westerham Hop Rocket India Pale Ale (Cask)
From cask @ The Champion. It’s a blurry or even near clear golden looking one, no real head to talk about just some small bubbles floating on the top. Smells nice. Fruity, with a mild sweetness. Lots of caramel here. Like it. Tastes like a cask conditioned English ipa should. Lots and lots of sweet fruits. Easters and some tones of apples. No carbonation at all and it has a thin oily texture in the mouth. Quite nice - went away quickly. 14.08.2015

Handpull cask from the Clarendon Arms, Cambridge. Light brown with a trace of terracotta. Small looseish ring of off-white head. Very little aroma. Some earthy, woody, vinous notes. The malty sweetness is overlaid with a tasty woody astringency. Medium body. It is a fairly average bitter, tasty enough but not one to go out of your way for.
