Squatters Squasatch Hoppy Pils
A very yellow beer, itís got a pretty tame aroma and really doesnít come off as much of a Pilsner. However! It does have a rather fantastic and clean lemony hop character which I really, really like. Iíd grab a few of these.

Squatters Nitro Red Ale
Pre-pour notes. Okay so, I had two bottles of this out in the truck. Went out to get something from the truck. Very cold out, well below freezing. The bottles exploded. Top neck, bottom base. Gone. Kablooey! However, theyíre still frozen. Mostly intact. Iím guessing the nitro doesnít like to be froze. So, Iím gradually thawing it out. Then I am going to sift, filter and strain out any glass, and give it a try.

Aroma is very sweet and malty. Fruity, like a soda.

Canít quite get appearance down. Light copper to amber. Loss of nitro is bad, would probably help.

Taste is malty, sweet. Orange marmalade is an accurate descriptor. Has sort of a pecan shell bitterness.

Mouthfeel is thin. A little papery. Light bodied. A better bottle would give more body.

Overall, despite its condition. Iím still enjoying it, and itís still pretty good. Iíll try another bottle if I see it, and redo this. Iím intrigued enough to buy it again.

Squatters Hop Rising Double India Pale Ale
Bottle. Amber gold in colour. Good off-white head. Very Fruity; very orange citrus, orange marmalade, some tropical fruit. Hoppy; piney resinous hops. Malty; sweet malts, caramel. Nice fruit/hop/malt balance. Sweet orange citrus fruity and caramel malty throughout. Increasing bitterness into a dry hoppy finish. Nice DIPA! (2014-09-12)

Squatters Nitro Red Ale
With a vigorous pour, Squatters Nitro Red Ale achieves a creamy, ivory head and a clear, brick-red appearance, some big suspended sediment chunks, and a bit of spiderweb lacing left on the glass. Aroma is of fruity (orange marmalade?), tannic, malt notes. Taste is of malt, fruit, mild hop bitterness, tea leaves, and sweet bread crust. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Nitro Red Ale finishes medium dry and highly drinkable. RJT

750 mL bottle from Discount Beverage, 12/9/16. Near black, thin head. Aroma of roasted malts, molasses, chocolate, nuts, herbal hops. The taste is milk and dark chocolate, herbal hops, roasted, molasses, burnt sugar, hints of cherry. Slick, medium-full bodied, mild booze. Quite nice.

Squatters Hells Keep
12oz bottle. A pretty decent beer, more like a US beer than a Belgian though, has none of the Belgian effervescent mouthfeel. Sweet golden malt backdrop, pleasant hop balance, restrained though present yeast tones. Pretty enjoyable overall, but not as much depth or finesse as a good Belgian example.

#500. Bottle bought at Squatters in 2013. The aroma is malt, raisin/dates, some caramel. Pours dark brown, almost black with big creamy/frothy head and excellent lacing. The taste is bitter, lot of licorice. The body is medium/full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish bitter and long. This is meant to drink slowly and it does age very well!

Squatters Hop Rising Double India Pale Ale
Pre-pour thoughts. Message under bottle cap reads. "GOOD for what ALES you". Heh heh, thatís good. Tonightís occasion is, I hate my job, and I can barely bear the thought of going in tomorrow. So if thereís a genie in this bottle, I wish for a new job.

Pours a copper orange color. Not very clear, some fine particulatesin there. About one finger cream colored head. Medium head longevity. Good lacing, okay retention.

Aroma is a malt bonanza. Wow. Toasted barley, light pine, light citrus. Caramel. Earthy hops. Itís a little different than what I was expecting. That pine thing, itís more of a pine bark....

Taste is leaning sweet. A little pine resin. Caramel, light orange zest. Honey and toast. Meh. Itís hoppy, but itís more earthy or floral.

Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied. Itís not real bitter, I guess thanks to the earthy hops. So the drinkability is pretty high. It is dry, smooth. Hides the alcohol well. Not too carbonated. Yeah....

Overall, itís pretty good. Iím not super impressed. But then again, Iím not disappointed either. Earthy hops are interesting. Iíd probably buy it again. Iíd probably recommend it also. I guess Iíll have to wait till morning to see if my wish was granted.

Squatters Hop Rising Double India Pale Ale
Bottle pour - orange/copper color with a frothy white head. Aroma is generally citrus hops with a solid dose of sweet malts, some breadiness and booze. Flavor is very malt forward for an IIPA - thereís some good bitterness mixed in, but this is a safe one if youíre not a hop-forward person. Healthy dose of sweetness and booziness mixed in - not surprised to see 9% on this, as it drinks like it is high ABV. Palate is medium bodied - mild carbonation. Good brew, but not if Iím looking for a bit more bite...

Thanks Craig aka Sledeutah. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a dark red/brown color with no head nor lacing. The aroma starts with strong apple cider vinegar bleeding into dry oaky foeders. Smooth acidity. Light "soured" caramel malt. The flavor leads with the Apple cider vinegar, sour, and full fledged, instilling no disturbance on my tastebuds of sticky sourness. Nice transition from sour apple aftertaste to quick dry oaky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent beat down from the sour hitting my palate appropriately. Super low carbonation. Smooth malts, totally oblivious to the carbonation. Semi-stickiness but acceptable. Overall, damn fine Flanders Oud Bruin by Squatters, I would definitely love to have again.

Poured into a tall tulip, the appearance was a pure glazy pale orange color with a quickly dissipating fingerís worth of white foamy head that left some light speckled lacing. The aroma starts with a big sour to bitter juicy orange rind. Rustic funk with a light lemongrass smell. Extra refreshing citrus juicy pulp. The favor leads with a sour juicy citrus tart rind. Some bitterness (very lightly hopped). Lemongrass seems to escape from the flavor a bit. Mostly juicy citrus sour aftertaste running into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Mostly closer to the medium side. That juicy contour bangs some bitterness against the sour side to really nail down the harshness well, still, that harshness on my tongue seems to want to play but ends up smoothing out as well. Overall, wow, just wow. I am perfectly enthralled with this beer. Thank you so much, Craig aka Sledeutah! You are the man!

Squatters Hop Rising Double India Pale Ale
Poured from can into snifter, clear deep amber red, off white head, subtle aroma. Probably a better bet IPA for those that don't like a biting hop mouthfeel. Subtle caramel finish. I should add that this beer is rather inconsistent and seems quite temperamental to temperature and handling. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
