August 2017 - Cask handpull at GBBF 2017, Kensington Olympia. As 'Crouch Vale Ekuanot'. Golden orange, clear and still, foamy off-white head. Aroma is musty, a little cheesy, slight orange. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is cheesy, light lemon, straw. Decent enough. (5-4-6-4-14=3.3)

GBBF Day 3. Cask. Very hazy orange beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and has a fairly modest carbonation. Dry malts, trace of grain and mildly sweet. Hops bring a pithy orange and orange peel. No Ekuanot exotics. Dry and slightly bitter finish. Disappointing. Crouch Vale have done better single hop Golds.

Crouch Vale Yakima Gold
From a beer hawk mystery case. Needed 3 glasses to pour given the huge amount of froth. Opened at about 10 degrees c , says may have been better chilling to fridge temperature. Pours golden , mild hop , little aroma. A little sweeter than I was expecting for the 4.2% alcohol and a little thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask. Warning - this may be a dodgy sample. But the main "wonderful" thing about the aroma is its absence. It's lightly hoppy. Also it's a cloudy orange where others have had it clear and golden. The top is lace but fleeting. Fortunately, the taste is okay. Fruity, but with a pleasant and moderate bitterness. The texture is slick and the body medium to light. Carbonation soft and bitter finish. I have said my prayers.

Draught at The Bacchanallia - Mill Road, Cambridge. Hazy gold with white head. There is a pithy, cat pee, orange character to this from the start, the Ekuanot hops are set up quite pleasantly with this. Some floral zesty hints. It’s fine.

Tasted from can. Pours a hazy gold with thick white head. Citrus aroma. Moderately sweet with mild bitterness. Flavors of grains, hay, caramel, faint tropical fruit flavors. You think you'll be tasting an IPA and then get surprised by the low to no bitterness but very good for a blond ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle, drinking this a few hours after Brewers Gold to compare. Clear pale golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: fruity, hoppy, malty, slightly odd apple cider like aroma. Taste: fruits, malts, citrus, herbal, initially sweet with quite a bitter finish for the style. Medium body and carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Expected a more intense Brewers Gold, got something very different, not entirely sure this is how it was supposed to taste. First person to review this in 10 years so I suspect it may have changed a bit.

500ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Piney, hoppy aroma, hints of spruce, a touch of orange zest. Taste is bone dry, slightly piney and grassy, bitter hoppy, some spruce, a mineral touch. Stands clearly behind other excellent Crouch Vale Golden Ales.

Gravity cask at the Royal William, Stowmarket. Brown with only a touch of ruby. Flat and translucent. Light notes of chocolate malt and a touch of Robusta coffee. Taste is sweet with a good dash of bitter-sour fruity hop. Well-balanced for a mild. Long grainy finish with blackcurrant and Milo. Needs more body and more character but still engaging.
