Crouch Vale Brewers Gold Extra
Tasted from can. Pours a hazy gold with thick white head. Citrus aroma. Moderately sweet with mild bitterness. Flavors of grains, hay, caramel, faint tropical fruit flavors. You think you'll be tasting an IPA and then get surprised by the low to no bitterness but very good for a blond ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Crouch Vale Brewers Gold Extra
500ml bottle, drinking this a few hours after Brewers Gold to compare. Clear pale golden colour with a small white head. Aroma: fruity, hoppy, malty, slightly odd apple cider like aroma. Taste: fruits, malts, citrus, herbal, initially sweet with quite a bitter finish for the style. Medium body and carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Expected a more intense Brewers Gold, got something very different, not entirely sure this is how it was supposed to taste. First person to review this in 10 years so I suspect it may have changed a bit.

500ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Piney, hoppy aroma, hints of spruce, a touch of orange zest. Taste is bone dry, slightly piney and grassy, bitter hoppy, some spruce, a mineral touch. Stands clearly behind other excellent Crouch Vale Golden Ales.

Crouch Vale Ruby Mild
Gravity cask at the Royal William, Stowmarket. Brown with only a touch of ruby. Flat and translucent. Light notes of chocolate malt and a touch of Robusta coffee. Taste is sweet with a good dash of bitter-sour fruity hop. Well-balanced for a mild. Long grainy finish with blackcurrant and Milo. Needs more body and more character but still engaging.

September 13, 2015 - at Cask Pub & Kitchen - handpull cask. Abso gorgeous pint - brassy, clear, refractive, with a long lasting smallish mottled beige head; what the hell - 5/5 (I so rarely give those, but this looks a treat). Aroma is "ever so hoppy!" - quote to my wife: "this is amazing - you’d hate this! It’s like acidic cat juice - 9+!" Taste is ... really good, but the hop bitterness is way more muted, it comes across as a solid-plus golden ale with a lot of cereal (none in the aroma). Really mouthfeel - acidic, astringent, airy and a little chewy, decent handpull carbonation - medium finish, something of a grapefruit pith aftertaste - well done.

Handpull cask at the Three Horseshoes, Stapleford. Very light gold. Straw really. A bit of white head floats on top. Aroma is surprisingly light with suggestions of soft citrus. Tastes much better though... crisp and bitter with tangerine and tropical fruit lingering for the long finish. More citrus and some mango in the aftertaste. Not a world beater but good sessionable cask ale. You know what you’re getting.

Handpull cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge. Deep gold, clear with almost no head. Smells vaguely of citrus and peaches but there’s a spicy/soapy hint. Very bitter throughout and not particularly balanced. The Amarillo hop is left to run rampant. Bitter soapiness in the long finish. It’s alright but quite messy. Too many problems to justify a higher score.
