DuClaw For Peteís Sake!
3/25/17. On tap at The Craft Bar, Destin. Black pour with a nice tan head. Light toasty aroma, some fruitiness, barely a whiff of peanut butter. Roasty flavor, malty, some coffee and chocolates, barely a hint of peanut. Not bad.

DuClaw Hell on Wood
From a cheap bottle in market district this stuff pours with a thick rich visual darker pale appeal. Aroma of volatile malt. Way too much flat viscous high alky effects causing dizzy affects. Almost gets cloying, but is not. WOoooOW on this one. Hell, yes, wood canít find. Some whisky flavors haunting the back of my palate but never get slimed. Not sure if aging would make this like a REAL old country barley wine. I donít think it could ever be trained to be civil & sweet. Another wannah bee but at least its cheap, and a good bzzzzzzzzzzzzz. In the end its rude and in yer face, ballz all the way to the wooden wallz, I guess. Drink 2 and get shit canned. Domestic barley wine fer sher. We ned to make 2 categories of barley wine; European & other countries or more likely euro and american barleywine. How about this for 2 categoris of BW; real and wannah beeeezzzz? Fuckiní hell.

Best beer Iíve had in five years! Simply fantastic! Dull bourbon color with a short white head. Caramel, coconut, vanilla, oak, and mildly fruity nose. Thick, sticky, oily mouthfeel. Coconut, vanilla, faint chocolate, oak, and very ripe apple flavors. Some alcohol burns through as well. Very, very good effort.

Sample at World Of Beer Easton. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt and peanut butter. Look, I donít like IPA so ignore my numbers. On tap it starts with a barely perceivable tart aroma on top of the typical IPA perfume. Some saison effects from the start can be detected. Must admit, the saison impressions make an otherwise simple IPA into something a little more palatable. Big long bitter IPA finish. What is it that IPA must be in anything beer today, WTF. Even has some decent carbonation clear up to the finish. Yeeh-ass, this is a little more interesting than the ubiquitous IPA fer sure.

DuClaw Hell on Wood
Tallahassee, Fl - Luckyís Market - 12 oz bottle. Pours a sparkling medium copper, light off white head, slight lacing, Aroma of molasses, bourbon, and dates. Full bodied flavor, sweet date like accents, baked brown canned bread, raisins, a hint of molasses, an inviting twinge of bourbon, not overdone at all. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Extremely solid barley wine, not over the top and cloying at all.

DuClaw Blood Orange Neon Gypsy
12 oz bottle served in a lager glass. This IPA has a clear, orange-amber body. Lots of carbonation is evident. The off-white head is moderate in size, very durable, and leaves lots of sticky lacing on the glass. The fruity and floral aroma carries more citrus (mainly orange, of course) than hops, but the flavor is hop dominated. While the aroma has some suggestion of artificial orange (think orange candy), this is not an issue with the flavor. The flavor is a mix of hops, orange juice, and orange peel, with hints of tropical fruit, cut grass and faint herbs all present. Medium-low bitterness. Lively medium-high carbonation in a near medium body. Overall: a step up(?) from regular Neon Gypsy which is a fine IPA on its own.

DuClaw Sweet Baby Java
Bottle from West Side. Pours a deep brown with a half-finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Huge peanut-butter nose with some chocolate malt and whoppers. More peanut butter fudge and chocolate on the palate, cola-like carbonation. I get prickly chili pepper rather than espresso. Lingering peanut butter finish. Nice enough.

12 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a dark brown with a khaki head of foam. The aroma is a a bit off putting. I get notes of sweaty socks in there. The taste is completely different, though. Rich peanut butter, dark chocolate, and espresso. Decadent. Thicker mouthfeel and high carbonation. Overall itís very nice, but that aroma keeps it from being great.

Cloudy dark chestnut brown with thin tan head. Malty darkfruit and wine oak aroma. Taste follows with a fruity boozy punch and some roastiness. Very mild closing hop bitterness to balance the sweet malts. A complex brew and I like this a lot. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle poured into a Creature Comforts glass. A: clear amber with a huge, fluffy white head that quickly went over the top of my 16 oz glass with only about 1/3 of the bottle poured. The head settled slowly and left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma: a hoppy, earthy smell featuring hay and grapefruit. Too dank. Flavor: More hops than malt, for sure, yet decent balance. Mildly bitter but high bitterness for style. Mildly dank and funky. M: high carbonation; medium-light body. A bit of dryness in the finish. Overall: Disappointing.

DuClaw Rye One On
When Guinness stopped producing their September-December Rye Pale Ale, I was distraught. While this isnít as good as what flows from St. Jamesí Gate Brewery, it is a very nice beer for sipping on. It has a richness that most IPAís lack. The hops arenít overpowering, but they sure still give your taste buds a smack! If you havenít tried one, I would recommend to anyone who enjoys IPAís to Rye One On!

Another one from Nimbleprop Iíve had for a while. Bottled 11/18/16. Coffee/peanut butter aroma. Porters are not my thing. I recall Sweet Baby Jesus to be like drinking a peanut butter cup. This one is not as sweet and less peanut butter flavor than SBJ. Smooth and drinkable for a 9%

Got this a while back in a trade from Nimbleprop. Bottle dated 11/29/16. Pours dark as expected with limited head. Chocolate aroma and taste with a hint of coconut. Medium body. As with most browns taste is optimal when served at the right temp. Donít drink it right out of the fridge let it warm up a little. Thanks Andy
