Hoppin’ Frog Rocky Mountain DORIS
At first - appearance, huge white head. Then strong hit of fresh, malty raisin scent, caramely, dried fruity shocked me. ...and then... the taste. it was like the perfect ballance of coffee, ..choco, vanilla, dried fruits and ...bourbon. Quite a woody picture comes to my head. Tastes expensive (is expensive tho). Rich, sticky, oily and WARM mothfeel gives this brew a final profile of perfection. Warm and refreshing at the same time. Really thankful that this brew has no licorice taste. Overall almost perfect brew. Lacking slight caramel aroma hint to reach 5/5 from me. One of my favorite Imperial Stouts.

750ml bottle. Thanks, Martin! Pours almost black, dark brown colour. Moderate beige head. Raisins, berries, black bread, sour notes, dark chocolate, hints of coffee. Dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty, sour notes, dry finish. Cocoa beans, chocolate, chocolate mousse. Very well balanced, slightly sour, extremely tasty imperial stout.

Hoppin’ Frog Rocky Mountain BORIS
Bomber, no BB.

Weinig aroma. In de smaak lichte caramel en geroosterde granen. Zeer zachte (de benaming silk klopt) en cleane mondgevoel. Misschien iets te zacht. Ik mis het weerhaakje. De afdronk is zeer zacht.

Hoppin’ Frog TORIS The Tyrant: Triple Oatmeal Stout
Pitch black color with really dark brown head. Aroma has really intense dark chocolate and liquor. Taste is really roasty with intense dark chocolate, cacao beans, quite bitter and slightly boozy on the finish. Heavy body, smooth carbonation. Overall it’s a nice, roasty, viscous imperial stout but it’s not something really awesome.

Hoppin’ Frog Barrel Aged DORIS The Destroyer
200 ml. draft @ Billiees Bier Kafétaria. This is the most expensive draft beer that I have ever purchased at 9 euro for 200 ml. Classical appearance, black, creamy tanned head. Nose is intense thick sweet mocha chocolate, pure pie, brownie and molasses, vanilla, huge pleasant chocolate brownie sweetness even though no clear bourbon. Taste is sweet mocha chocolate caramel, vanilla, chocolate brownie, thick molasses, sugar, cake. Body is thick creamy chocolate & low molasses. Utterly wonderful sweet RIS desert beer, lovely surprise given some lesser experiences with Hoppin’ Frog RIS beers, looking at my score of the base version, the price point might have led to myself justifying this in my head. A definite possibility, I really enjoyed it. I am a sucker for the style. My complaint about the base was the bitterness, bourbon definitely rectified that.

From bottle acquired at FLASK. Pours a pitch black with a nice tan head. Aroma has intense roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, dark berries, light soapy?? But not in a bad way.. rather complex. Taste is sweet, sticky, intense, bourbon, bitter. Not as "easy drinking" as DORIS. Full body and a medium low carbonation. Really nice!

660ml bottle - thanks Sten!
Smells almost entirely of thise twisted bready cheesy sticks you dip into sour cream-like sauce during the match/movie. No, honestly, this is dried out cheese. Behind that there’s a beany roast trying to get out, yay. Taste is identical - cheezy breadsticks. What the fucking fuck. Full palate, smooth, pleasant carbonation. Finish pleasantly bitter. Cheese sticks?!?!? For fuck’s sake.

Bottle. Sensoric. Deep brown with small to medium, semi-thick, light brown head. Poor head retention and moderate lacing. Moderate to heavy malty aroma - caramel, some roasted malts, nutty notes, booze is noticeable. Aroma is light heavy sweet with light heavy bitter notes - long, stable, slightly intensifies thru the degustation. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, finish is caramel, semi-bitter, slightly nutty and cocoa. In overall this tastes like good Old Ale empowered with some cocoa and nutty notes. ABV is moderately hidden, slightly warming in the end.

Hoppin’ Frog / Dry & Bitter Old School Baltic Porter
650ml bottle from Beer Bazaar in Hainesville, cellar aged 2 months. Pours a very, very dark brown pour with a brown head into my Only Child funky glass, with bits of spotty lace. Aroma has big molasses, some toffee, light espresso, and some spices. Taste is of sweet molasses, roasted malt, light cocoa, a touch of roast and some pepper. Stronger than medium bodied with some alcohol. The blend is solid and the carbonation is soft. Finishes sweeter than bittersweet. Interesting, solid representation of style. Enjoyable. 13.6

Hoppin’ Frog DORIS The Destroyer

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, molasses, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, dark fruit, chocolate and molasses; ends slightly/medium bitter and dry with roasted malts, coffee and hops.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Amazing to see that the hops are still present? in this beer, bringing loads of dark fruit. Heavy roasted and a lot of coffee in the finish. Molasses are definitely the dominant aspect. Amazing appearance and palate and the flavour is not far behind; the aroma is the only ’downside’ of this beer.
