Nova Paka Hemp Brou Czech
On tap at Novopacká piváreň, Račianska. Surprisingly different beer, you can really smell hemp in aroma, feel it (slightly) in body, so there’s something bit different, otherwise it’s again just another watery beer from Nová Palate. Why do they even exist?!

10-Oct-16 (12-oz bottle: Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA)
This Bock is golden amber in color and capped by a bubbly, off-white head that settles to a thin ring. As expected, the nose is sweet and malty with a touch of caramel, some grassiness, and a bit of creamed corn. On the palate, the malt base is corny, medium-sweet, and lightly caramely, but also unexpectedly smoky--just a touch, but enough that is stands out. Not a lot of hops here, but it’s mildly grassy with minimal bitterness. Body is medium-plus, carbonation is light-medium, and though sweet, it’s not cloying. Overall, this is fine, but below average compared to other Bocks.

The beer has a very intense sweet spicy smell of herbs, but it’s actually not sweet. In the mouth it’s still very herbal, but with a thick dusty component that feels undissolved. The combination with hop bitterness is not bad, but actually the beer didn’t make a good case for combining this particular herb with beer.

Bottled. Absolutely terrible, a bit bitter, weird cherry nose, I could do better by mashing fresh cherries and letting them soak in ordinary lager.....hey, that’s not a bad idea!! All joking aside, I might prefer Heineken to this...no, wait, I’m not THAT desperate. Save yourself the disappointment and skip this one.
