Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Clear amber colour lasting cream head. Yes some decent hop some decent toffee malt. Some ok bitterness on the finish. Hop is slightly aromatic, some ok hop flower flavour, quite fresh. Yes rather decent I thought. As the bottle went down I liked the hop floral flower flavour.

Ciemny kolor, piana utrzymuje się cały czas. W zapachu głównie kawa. Smak dość palony, trochę kawy, lekko slodowy, gdzieś daleko w tle nieco chmielu, dość treściwy. Alkohol mocno wyczuwalny, ale przyjemny.

Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Appearance: Deep golden colour; rich creamy head. Aroma: Nice fill aroma of flowers, grass, hops… Palate: Excellent combination of medium body and medium carbonation. Taste: Sweetish (cake/cookie), fruity (citrus), medium bitterness, creamy vanilla aftertaste. Overall impression: Excellent, tasteful beer! Good balance between sweetness and bitterness.

Piwo bardzo ciemno-brązowe z beżową pianą. W aromacie mleczna czekolada ( a nawet wręcz śmietankowa) i kawa. W smaku również mleczna czekolada i w tle kawa. I to by było na tyle, jednak wg mnie jest to świetny stout. Nie jest jakoś niesamowicie intensywny, ale za to bardzo pijalny oraz smaczny.

Carlow O’Hara’s Irish Red
Draft pint from The Irish Rover. Aroma: Mostly caramel biscuit with a little woodsy hop note. Appearance: Slightly hazy copper red with a foamy tan head that sticks around. Flavor: Biscuity, semi-sweet malts up front with earthy hops, more drying than bitter, coming in thereafter; the finish is semi-dry. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Dead simple, but clean and sessionable. I don’t think many people would nerd out over this, but it’s a nice beer to go with conversation and traditional Irish food.

Beżowa, średnipęcherzykowa piana. Aromat słodki, czekoladowy, kakaowy, lekko mleczny. W tle kawa i paloność. Średniointensywny. W smaku za to jest dużo bardziej intensywnie. Bardzo słodki, czekoladowy, kakaowy, kawowy. Finisz za to wytrawny. Goryczka kawowa, palona, na średnim poziomie. Wysycenie niskie, do średniego.

Dobry FES.

Pours slightly hazy golden color, topped with a medium sized white head, slowly swttling. Pelasant aroma of sweet fruits, elderflower and some flowers, typical wolf nose. Moderate bitterness throughout, in the end some fruity presence can be felt, a bit sparkly (soda like). Lasting bittery aftertaste. Lighter body. Nice, fresh and very drinkable.

Carlow O’Hara’s 20th Anniversary Imperial Stout
375ml bottle from The Wine Store, Armagh, Ireland (Ł3.99):
Quite a nice beer overall without being a standout, although to be honest I was probably expecting more from this considering it’s a 20th anniversary beer from the brewery. It opened with some nice sweetness thanks to the sugars as well as some dark fruits then later on some vanilla but it definitely wasn’t the strongest tasting beer, something I wasn’t expecting to say about one coming in at 10% really. It had quite a smooth, creamy feel with milky chocolate dominating the taste but it could have been darker & more complex. It’s one that I’m still glad to have picked up & tried but I’m hoping the bottle I’m ageing turns out to be better than this one.
