Oudaen Tripel
Tap @ the source. Copper/orange color, light hazy. Dense white head with good retention. Aroma’s from the glass: sweet, malty, coriander. Retronasal: fruit, spices, yeasty, a bit alcoholic. Flavor is light to moderate bitter, light sweet-fruity. Medium bodied. Not the greatest of tripels.

Tap @ the souce. Cloudy straw yellow color. Dense white head. Aroma’s of grain, fruit, wheat. Retronasal there’s wheat, sweet & sour, light coriander. Flavor is light to moderate sweet, wheaty. Light bodied. Light bitterness in the finish, only shortly. Refreshing on a Spring day.

Oudaen Stout
From tap at the brewpub. Aroma is roasted malt, sweet malt, some caramel and sugars, fairly strong liquorice and a touch of chocolate. Flavour is medium sweet and moderate roasty bitter. Body is just above medium. Fairly heavy on the liquorice for my taste, but very decent sweetish Stout.

Draft at the brewpub. Clear reddish brown with a thick cream head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, malt and a touch of overripe dark fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Sample from tap @ Utrechts Brouwers Fesitval 2016, with Zlotta, Caesar, Benzai & ShivanDragon. Crystal clear orange color. Off white head. Aroma’s: from the glass not much, light English hops. Retronasal: English hops, quite mild, light fruity. Flavor is light bitter, light grain. Light bodied. Finishes eventually rather bitter, slightly dry. If this was meant to be a UK IPA, they did a pretty good job.

van tap helder koper/oranje met witte kraag. aroma droog, gras, kruidig, komt niet echt vers binnen, wat stevig, muf. smaken zijn dun/waterig van textuur, gras, zwak tot matig bitter, iets den, zwakke body, lage co2, lange bittere afdronk.

Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity taste of caramel, honey, peach and tangerine, followed by a short, slightly bitter finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay.

Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, nuts and hints of dark ripe fruits, followed by a short, slightly roasty-bitter, a little yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay.

Sampled @ UBF 2016. Opaque dark brown color, medium sized quite dense beige to light brown head. Aroma is musty, malts, brown malts. Taste malts, caramel, musty, brown candy sugar. More a Belgian Strong Ale instead of a (foreign) stout. Drinkable but not very pleasant.

On tap at Oudaen, Utrecht. Nose is raisin, chocolate. Body is black, head is medium, brownish, creamy, average lasting, excellent lacing. Aroma is chocolate, raisin, cherry, red wine, licorice, spices. Medium sweet, medium roasty bitter, medium fruity sour. Finish is medium lasting roasty medium sweet-sour, light roasty bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Quite easy dessert beer, weird sourish taste, interesting.

(Oudaen Dubbele Daen) On tap at the brewpub. Deep red brown colour on the body, mostly cler, with a tall and thick light beige head on top. Very good retention. Aroma of malts, caramel, red and dark fruits. Taste also of caramel, lots of metallic notes red and dark fruits, light alcohol, toasted malts, with a bitter finish. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Okay beer, easy to drink.

(Oudaen Tripel) Tap at the brewpub, 250 ml glass. Deep orange colour on the body, crystal clear, with one finger of white, thick head on top. Good retention and heavy lacing left behind. Faint aroma with light malts and fruity notes. Taste of malts, sweet in general, with some light floral notes, alcohol, grains, apricot. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Good.

Taste has light roasted malts, nuts, dark fruits, yeast. Sharp bitterness on the finish. Medium body, good carbonation, smooth on the palate. Decent.

Soft to medium bitter in taste, citrussy, bit malty sweetness. Not spot on in style, but quite tasty. But thats because I like german kellerbier.

Bottled (backlog). Hazy yellowish orange colour with a big slightly off-white creamy head. Aroma is wheat, spices, ywast, wood and some berries with mild toffee as well. Flavour is citrus, wheat, wood, some toffee and mild spicy yeast to it. Balanced, but not the cleanest of hefeweizens around.
