2.3 Kassik's Starboard Side On tap at Tent City Taphouse, pours a hazy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma is pure yoghurt upfront, with subdued earth rhubarb and nary a trace of strawberry. Flavour is a yogurt bomb, with subdued strawberry and earthy rhubarb. This really isn’t good. An unpleasant yogurt bomb that doesn’t make good use of the fruit. Poor. Tuesday, June 20, 2023

3.5 Kassik's Roughneck Stout Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a glow and a super opaque, almost black coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall tan and light-brown coloured body with a nice lace on the sides of the glass as it fades. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal, light pitted fruits, some raisins and figs with a light dose of lactose and cream noticeable along with some tart cherry notes as well, at least in the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong tart cherry and softer fruit flavours show at first with the pitted fruits and light sweetness here along with a good deal of roasted notes and some bread and grain as well with dry fruity quality and some softer chocolate elements, especially towards the end. Aftertaste shows the light creaminess with some light lactose notes, but a lot of lighter fruits such as the cherries and raisins all noticeable and a soft sweetness with some lactose here, but also some chocolate, but the oatmeal and roasted malts are strongest at the end. Overall, a very nice and robust, slightly tart and soured beer with the cherries the reason here, with some deep malts and small dose of alcohol, but that's all good for keeping you warm in the wintertime in Alaska. I sampled this tall, 19,2 ounce can, purchased from La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 05-October-2021 for US$4,25 sampled at my house here on the other side of the country in Washington on 23-October-2021. 2.9 Kassik's Beaver Tail Blonde Ale Clear golden coloured body with a decent two to three centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat nicely and shows off the clear body. Aroma of yeast, bread, honey, grass, grains and very mellow notes, but the breadiness and yeast scents are by far the strongest here. Light-bodied; Very crisp grassy and biscuity flavours dominate with a lot of honey and bready notes, some yeast that pokes through and a mellow dash of very subdued hops, but nothing exciting or strong, of course. Aftertaste shows more of the same with honey and sweetness beating out the biscuity and honey notes and bringing a light grassy characteristic out as well. Overall, a pretty poor beer, but at least showing some honey and dry biscuity flavours to couple with the yeast and bread notes. I sampled this 19,2 ounce tall can, purchased from SafeWay in Fairbanks, Alaska on 23-June-2021 for US$4,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Anchorage, Alaska on 27-June-2021 after seeing the beautiful sight of Denali in full glory earlier in the day with my wife and three kids. 4.5 Kassik's Roughneck Stout this is good stout. when i first tryed it had a butter shots flavor to me. and i put one in fridge for 3 weeks and just drank it and the butterscotch flavor was not there anymore. i was going to hold on to it until i was reading that to age stouts u need 8 abv or above for better results. but if u like stouts and have a chance to try this one i would say give it a go. it has a medium mouth feel. taste is coffee with chocolate notes through out. some kind of fruit in it dates. or dark cherries. after 3 weeks the butterscotch flavor or toffee flavor leaves. has a light brown head. and leaves a nice lace behind on glass. and the alc is 7.2 abv. 4.2 Kassik's Buffalo Head Barley Wine 650 ML bottle 12% this vintage Clear dark caramel color, light tan head that falls to a thin collar. Good sticky AVB legs. Nice ruby tones to the beer. Nose is caramel, dark fruits, soft oak and bourbon. Well balanced nose between sweetness and grain. Taste is a bit boozy but lots of caramel, dark fruits, soft oak and bourbon notes. Full bodied and really easy to drink. AVB does not translate to the drinkability of the beer. Exceptional barleywine Wednesday, October 10, 2018

Aroma of dark roast, mild vanilla, a hint of oxidation, some smoke, and a bit of black licorice. Taste follows, the barrel has fallen off, and the bottle has gotten slightly oxidized, so it leans towards dark malts, smoke, and licorice. Booze is well hidden, minimal sweetness, nicely done, just wish I drank it earlier. Tuesday, October 3, 2017

4.4 Kassik's Smoked Russian Imperial Stout I really enjoyed this. A nice smoke aroma, with a bit of lox. The flavor is thick and smoky, with a good and consistent flavor throughout. Thanks to the parents for this one! Excellent introduction to Kassiks. Sunday, March 5, 2017

2.5 Kassik's Whaler's Wheat Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a ruddy burnt yellow to orange pale color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that died off at a gentle pace. Light semi-foamy lace. The aroma had some super sweet banana qualities with some sweet wheatiness. Some lemon sweetness The flavor leans to the sweet side combining all of those previously mentioned aromas. The aftertaste is one sided towards the sweetness. Quick sweet wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair refreshing sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. ABV felt fine. No wheat bite. Overall, overly sweet American pale wheat ale that I don’t see myself coming back to. Much better ones on the market. Saturday, February 18, 2017
