Rivertowne Schloppy Monster Double IPA
Can from VE. Nose very hoppy, green, with caramel and some homebrew character. Pour hazy yellow-golden with a dense off-white head. Taste medium-sweet with low bitterness, very deep and complex hoppiness that is greatly appreciated. Getting into peach and caramel territory, just a little earth, certainly not traditional citrus territory. No burning, but seeping alcohol, only somewhat heavy but the etoh is a dominant player (mingles well with the sugar, though). Medium-full body, no watery parts, moderate carbonation, clean. Big, slightly traditional, somewhat bright, and some nice out-side-the-box accents. [2017.09.09: 3.4]

Rivertowne Jah Mon
Can from VE. Pour very clear golden with a large creamy white head, tiny gush. Taste is medium-strong bitter and resinous, but it's fresh lupulin and homebrewy. Mostly hops, leafy green with light browns, minimal malt save for some caramel and earth. Lightly sticky, reliably cleanses the palate, but it's something from the 20th century. [2017.09.06: 2.4]

Rivertowne Patrick's Poison
Can from VE, mine says 8% abv. Pour caramel-copper with a yellow-tinged beige head, I guess into tan territory? Interesting under light, it’s a dusky orange-ruby glow. Nose lightly sweet and toasty caramel. In the mouth it’s semi-dry with a significant sugary caramel component, low-level roast, medium toast, very rich malt; some berry-inflected fruit, strong caramel, really has those malt flavors coming in waves! Low but firm bitterness, I could see some calling it a firm medium there; alcohol seeps through the cracks and brings a few fumes along. Very slight citrus up top and don’t get me wrong, there’s a bright citrus elements woven into the upper echelons, but it’s an earthy, woody, woodsy, damp and moldering bit of natural darkness without heavy roast barley or scorch-chocolate; hard bit of masculinity to pull off. Medium body, some graininess, extremely sticky lips, and a building sense of sugar with volume. Chest also warms with time. Don’t know that I’ve ever had a beer like this. [2017.08.03: 3.5]

Rivertowne Hippoats
Can from VE, mine 5.3% abv. Nose is anise-heavy with strong chocolate and some ginger. Pour light brown that gets progressively duskier in the glass but also picks up weight of ruby highlights; head is short tan -- a very attractive beer. Taste mostly ginger to start, light-medium body with below average malt that picks up a pleasant clean, low-level bitterness by the finish and keeps it. Mild cocoa with red berry, smooth feel but there might well be some more carbonation for my sake, and there’s a good dash of lemon zest. No real hops or alcohol to my tongue. It’s weird to have a beer featuring ginger as the dominant flavor but have it be so mild compared to ginger beers -- all the other flavors have been dialed back a few notches, this is smooth and chuggable, if one were so inclined, and even the heat is reduced by the residual sweetness. It’s hard to use the word balance in situations like this, so let’s go with "even keel." Also not much sense to visualize this as a ’brown ale’, but I still like it. [2017.07.28: 3.1]

I am embarrassed to like this. Like a radler but better, the pineapple and beer work perfectly together. I feel guilty giving this a solid rating but credit where credit is due. Not obnoxiously sweet and does not have a fake lollipop pineapple taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Delicious Gose on tap at Cains Saloon. Aroma was nice. Just a hint of smoke with sour wheat and a little vinegar. Pour was a nice hazy light gold/dark yellow with a one finger white head. Taste was just like the aroma, but better. Nice tart wheat flavors with notes of lemon and lime. After the swallow, there was a nice smokiness lingering as well as a dry sourness. Nice strong carbonation

Yes, darker maroon in color. First taste it shows its alky content up front. Malty and fairly thick dark, iced tea colored liquid. Warming sensations. Impressive and almost brutal. I wonder how old this can is or is it this years combo effort? Why do I keep thinking this is something like a domestic barley wine? Finishes like one.

Rivertowne African Swallow
Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a mostly dark brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Sly messy lace. The aroma had some sweet caramel/toffee malts up front with a balancing sweet and woody coconut smell coming in with a little bit of toast and dark fruits. The flavor was moderately sweet with an ample dryness and nuts coming in to blend fairly nice. Aftertaste leaned towards the caramel/toffee malts but super light. Not much of a finish, seemed somewhat nutty. The palate was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch under with a fairly good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, I dig the idea of putting coconut in a brown ale and wouldn’t mind having this again if I could get it.

Rivertowne Schloppy Monster Double IPA
12 oz can. Pours a mostly clear golden orange color and topped by a nice layer of off white foam that settles into a thin layer at the body. The aroma shows notes of citrus fruit with orange and grapefruit prominent and pine resin over a toasted bread and caramel malt base. The flavor shows much the same with the orange and grapefruit citrus, pine, sweet caramel and toasted bread malts, some booze and citrus hop bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation that leads to a bitter sweet finish. Decent enough DIPA, but nothing that wows you here.
