Rivertowne Maxwell’s Scottish Ale
Can. Deep garnet with an off-white head. Light, nutty malt aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet with a tangy bite on the back end. Not quite a Scottish ale, more in the Brown Ale type in drinking. This needs a bit more malt complexity and body.

Rivertowne Schloppy Monster Double IPA
A little malty and woody, there’s a decent amount of bread and grain that leads into the pine and hops that take over for the finish. Full and slightly bitter.

Rivertowne Grateful White
Rivertowne Grateful White has a thick, cream, off-white head, a murky, orange-gold appearance, which becomes murkier, after the "swish & pour", and lots of lacing, left behind, on the glass. The aroma is of sweet white wheat bread, some spice, and a touch of banana, and a touch of bubble gum. Taste is of yeasty, zingy, sweet, fruity white wheat bread, some mild, light crust, and white pepper. Mouthfeel is low-heavy, and Grateful White finishes medium white. RJT

Rivertowne Mazy’s Malted Milk Chocolate Stout
On tap at haunted Harmony Inn. Big & black fer sure. Creamy off white head. Wow, smells like a malted chocolate milk shake. No lie. Taste is also mild malty shake, but with a little less sugar. Interesting flat chocolate unsweetened milk chocolate malt. Same flat initial impressions, but still chocolate.

Rivertowne All Aboard Oatmeal Coffe Stout (Bourbon Barrel Aged)
12 ounce can
Rivertowne has never really set the world on fire but they continue to plug away with decent release after decent release. Selling a barrel aged imperial stout in a can piqued my curiosity so I picked up a single during a stop at the store. The forgettable experience falls short of average; don’t bother with this one unless you come across a great deal.

Aroma / Appearance - A fluid black base appears timid compared to the average imperial stout. The gentle head melts away like ice cream on a warm summer day. Oak, malt, and raspberries offer the core essence of an imperial stout. Sadly the bourbon barrel aging steals the show; the unbalanced oakiness eventually masks everything but plums and chocolate.

Flavor / Palate - Malt, oak, chocolate, and plums fill the mouth with flavor. Despite the richness it feels lacking compared to a well executed example of the style. The results leave the palate wanting just a bit more. With more body and less barrel influence this could be a solid middle of the road release.

Looks like an IPA. Lacks any real hop aroma. Some co2 is present. Wet hops did not make this overly hoppy like an IPA, instead its a decent APA with some threads of fresh, almost enjoyable hops. Fell is civilized and balanced. i didn’t think I’d like thois but it wasn’t bad.

Rivertowne Headless Wylie’s Pumpkin Ale
Can:   Orangish amber, thin foamy off-white head, little lacing.   Rich bready nose, strong spices yet dull.   Strong sweet malty example, pale breadiness, spices that are there but not sharp or bright.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Doesn’t seem like a 8.1% beer.   Finishes malty, bready, with strong yet dull spices.   Fairly clean otherwise.   Wished it were a bit brighter.

Rivertowne All Aboard Oatmeal Coffe Stout (Bourbon Barrel Aged)
Mine’s a little different, blue label and claiming a higher 8.2% abv rather than 7.1%, but the name’s right (even down to "Anniversary Stout", bar code here 713757956604). Can came from VE. Nose inky, chocolaty with plummy background, tons of roast, coffee, red berry, extra sugar, scorched grain. Pour dull light brown, but of course accumulating to opaque pitch in the glass, supports a creamy tan head with weak lace. Taste is much of that nose but scaled back a bit, emphasizing whispers of bourbon and oak, very smooth oat-silken body with spirited feel (port, brandy), still lots of plum, though, and bit of smoke in the finish. Medium body much lighter than expected, coffee now more of a city roast, and the alcohol is well-tamed saved for the gradual building of warmth in the chest, which is very pleasant indeed! Sweet with low bitterness and a sort of nutty/coconutty accent. Not all the edges have been rounded off, but it’s easy to be outwardly happy while drinking. [2016.09.01: 3.7]

Rivertowne Sassamanash
12 ounce can
A so-so fruit beer makes a name for itself by being fairly unusual. People have done cranberry beers before, and certainly better than this, but in typical Rivertowne fashion it offers a unique twist. I’d share it with people who were not into beer as a possible gateway.

Aroma / Appearance - A transparent golden body shimmers with bubbly life. Lemonade, cranberry juice, and fruity malts brighten the mood as Thanksgiving comes early. A plain simple foundation blunts the rough edges and keeps it from being too exciting.

Flavor / Palate - Lemonade splashed with cranberry tastes a bit like slightly alcoholic Sierra Mist. The fast fading body disappears without a trace which means it takes a while to form the whole picture. Refreshing and affordable, this regional release might be worth checking out if you are in a Rivertowne market and can buy a single.

Pours up a nice clear golden color with a small white ring of head. Good active carbonation can be seen rising to the surface. The aroma is fruity and sweet, almost like a cider. The taste follows suit, I can pick up apple juice and the cranberry element. Sweet and grainy throughout, the fruit element is definitely in the forefront. Interesting tasting beer but not something you want a lot of.
