Grand Canyon Sunset Amber Ale
Had in a bottle, poured it into a pint sized glass, it foamed up, flowed up and overflowed out of the glass leaving 2-3 oz of beer on table soaked over 2 large napkins to clean. Glass was full of foam, eventually glass was 1/5 full of amber beer and 50% foam, bottle was still over half full. Smell was faintly malty, flavor was off badly had a slightly sour taste. Bottle bomb. This beer had no business ever leaving the brewery. If I could rate it negative I would.

Bottle/Fest. A- Burnt cocoa, soy sauce. A- Brown color, dark liquid, off white head. T- Soy, umami, burnt. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, odd finish. O- A ton of soy in here. Tasted like something out of a lonely Japanese bar. Supposedly a brown ale aged in rum barrels I believe. It wasn’t bad, just weird and hard to describe.

Draft/Fest. A- Oak, plum, cherries, subtle vanilla. A- Red brown color, clear liquid, beige head. T- Oak, plums, cherry, subtle vanilla, mild booze, tart. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- Wow this is good stuff. To me it’s more of a sour red/brown. Also not sure how it only has one other rate and from another Nebraska rater at a different fest. I was also told they stopped making it. This is stuff I’d love to bottle up and have a few of. Very complex and smooth. Nice stuff. In a blind tasting I would say this could be Russian River.

Draft/Fest. A- Blood oranges, tart. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Sour, oranges, salty, tart. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, sour finish. O- Lots of oranges in here and a nice touch of salty. Sour as all get out. One of the sourest beers I’ve had lately but it was quite tasty and refreshing.

Draft/Fest. A- Strawberries, light tartness. A- Yellow color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Strawberry, sweet, mildly sour. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- I do get quite a bit of strawberry in here but it’s not overpowering. A fair amount of general fruitiness overall. Not as sour as I would like it to be but it is quite refreshing. I think the addition of kiwi would really be solid.

Grand Canyon Sunset Amber Ale
At Jacob Lake Inn Restaurant. Pours hazy amber/light brown with a dense, frothy, off-white head. The aroma contains malt, caramel, bread, citrus and some hops. It tastes medium sweet and light bitter. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Lacked some complexity, despite the rich malt flavour.

Grand Canyon American Pilsner
Sampled in Williams, AZ, but in a bottle. Pours a nice rich clear golden with a very nice small but retentive white head. Aroma is caramel malt and mild spice. Taste is delicious. There is sweet caramel malt, buttered biscuits, some mild grassiness and minimal hop bite. Smooth, easy drinking. Very good, but a bit more like a marzen.

Grand Canyon Mr. E
A beautifully pale, exceptionally aromatic, sensitive expression... Quite the description. I think for pretty good reason. It is a nice beer. There are some dry, tart, grassy notes - none of which are potent flavors. I think it is decently hopped, but not in a crazy way, even for an APA.

Weak aroma, average appearance. Taste is not too bad, slightly sweet and malty. Lacks any real balls. Palate is light to medium bodied soft carbonation. Overall, a beer that is not too memorable. Probably would not buy again.

Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate roasted malt, light allspice, clove, ginger, and a touch of roasted pumpkin. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and a one finger beige head that fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate and roasted malt. The finish has light-moderate coffee, allspice, clove, ginger, and a touch of roasted pumpkin. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Taps clear golden with a decent buff head that leaves good lacing. Aroma features a strong fruity note, supported by hops and a little malt. Flavor offers bolder notes of pear, apple, resiny hops and fresh malt plus a floral hint. Flavor doesn’t quite say IPA, but it is pleasing. Smooth mouthfeel delivers good body and lively fizz. 22 oz bottle from a random gas station just outside Grand Canyon National Park. Had a weird plastic thing in the neck of the bottle called a "flavor bomb " with two coffee beans and a toasted oak stick in it. Supposed to add flavor to the beer. Pours dark brown / black color with tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Moderately roasted malt flavor with some day old coffee and sweet milk chocolate. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation.
