Tom Sabin was born in Allesley in 1853 and featured in the "Bicycling Times and Touring Gazette" of December 1878 as "the first bicyclist in the Midlands". He purchased his first machine in 1873 to get to Coventry and back, joined the Coventry Bicycle Club and started to compete. Victories in national and regional races followed in quick succession culminating in winning the three-mile race at the Wenlock Olympic Games in 1877 and 1978.

He owned a family farm in Allesley, and the Bicycling Times article finished – "He does not believe in doing too much work, and with the exception of leaving off smoking, takes no other training"! He is pictured posing with his "Ordinary" Bicycle, later to be called the Penny Farthing.

A muscular beer with plenty of dark malts to fuel the pedals, and traditional English hops including Fuggles for a full and rounded flavour. 4.4% abv
