Dr. Rudi hops is named after Dutch scientist Dr Rudy Roborgh who ran the NZ Hop Development Programme in the 1960s and developed the first varieties of triploid hops. Wakatu is also New Zealand hop. Its parentage includes the noble Hallertau Mittlefrueh and, in fact, the hop apparently used to be called “Hallertau Aroma” before the name was switched to Wakatu.
