Named after the 1904 Baldock Beer Disaster in England when 300 barrels of beer fell three floors through the brewery, crushing eight workers to death, drowning five and injuring another fifteen, temporarily hitting surrounding streets with a wave of beer which destroyed three houses and killed a dog. In honor of those who perished in the pursuit of happiness, this India Pale Ale has high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma with medium-high alcohol content. The style is further characterized by fruity, floral and citrus-like American-variety hop character. This new version is more heavily hopped with over 2 pounds of hops per barrel and is dry-hopped as well. The use of water with high mineral content results in a crisp, dry beer. This copper-colored ale has a full, flowery hop aroma and strong hop flavor in addition to the hop bitterness, with medium maltiness and body. Fruity-ester flavors and aromas are strong.
