Platform 12 is the name we have come up with for our Home Brewer’s Competition. This year the winner Erick Desjardin created an interesting recipe that featured Beets and Honey. With conversion of the recipe into a full 10 hectolitre brew, this recipe called for 250 pounds of locally grown beets, 125 pounds of local honey, 19 pounds of Hops and over 350 pounds of premium malted barley. Released officially at the 2012 Toronto Beer Festival, this monster brew exceeded the taste threshold for I.B.U.’s. and finishing at 6.3% alc/vol. A complex flavour profile is sure to please many tastes.
