The Church Brew Works version is based on recipes similar to the Imperial Stouts of old. It is enormously full bodied with coffee and chocolate-like flavors dominating. You may also detect sherry and raisin in the aroma. The color is an opaque black, so don’t even try to look through it. There are some complex fruity aromas, which blend with a full hop aroma and flavor. The alcohol is quite high, hence we are serving it in our 10 oz Specialty #3 glass. The Imperial Stout finishes long, rich and roasty with a balancing hop bitterness.
