After fourteen days and fourteen nights of captivity on his own ship, our brewmaster slowly lost his sanity like a mythical whale descending in the deep. First came confusion, followed by creeping paranoia and lastly, utter madness. In his delirious state of mind he began mixing the beer styles he had sworn to uphold like commandments cut in stone.

When we finally came to his rescue it was already too late. In the fermentation tank brewed a monstrous potion, an unholy blend of wheat beer and ale.

The Tail of a Whale is brewed like a German wheat beer with over 55% wheat malt. It has a characteristically light body and fresh taste – just like a traditional wheat beer – but by fermenting with a Scottish ale yeast and dryhopping with Citra, the brew acquires a fantastic aroma and fruitiness. The combination results in a crisp malt body from the wheat beer with the fruitiness of an ale. The fresh hop aroma gives the beer a distinctive character.
