Common descriptors are
This celebratory ale is, stylistically, inspired by beers categorized as Belgian-style Strong Golden Ales. Generally, this type of ale is straw-gold in color, slightly phenolic in aroma, prickly and effervescent in the mouth and highly dry and fairly hot in the finish. Duvel is the signature beer of the style and it is one of our favorites. Taproom 7-Year Ale is fantastically simple in design: one malt (German Pilsner), one sugar (Japanese Korizato), two hops (UK East Kent Golding and US Sterling), and one yeast (a Belgian one reputedly derived from the Duvel brewery). The resulting beer is fantastically complex in flavor! Estery notes of pears and plums define the aroma, slightly sweet, yeast-derived flavors of fruit celebrate on the palate, a strong alcohol-enhanced dryness punctuates the finish! If it were my seventh birthday, this is the beverage I would want served along with my cake!
