Blackwater Uber Pale Ale, Catawba’s first high-gravity offering, is a category of its own. Pouring almost pitch black, "pale" refers purely to the over the top hop additions. Five varieties total including the Summit hop from Washington State and four malt varieties gives this well balanced UPA a strong hoppy nose, slightly sweet with a dry, bitter finish. The black sheep of the Catawba beer family is in the words of Scott Pyatt "all killer, no filler."
