Church Brew Blast Furnace Stout

Church Brew Works
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Beer style: Stout - Milk / Sweet
Ref: ratebeer.com Apr2024

Common descriptors are
To give this beer a wonderful roasted flavor, we added unmalted, very darkly roasted barley. The roasted barley is mixed with a generous portion of chocolate colored malt giving the Blast Furnace Stout a beautiful ruby hue.

We used our finest hops unsparingly to create a delicately balanced bitterness with a rich roastiness and fresh hop aroma. The East Kent Goldings hops were added with heavy hands at two different times. This unbridled addition grants a full hop flavor to our heavenly drink.

Editor’s note: This brewery uses Church Brew Blast Furnace Stout as a name for one of their beers (an oatmeal stout), but the name remains on the board at all times to signify that they always have a rotating stout which is not necessarily the BFS. Please check with your bartender to see which stout is currently on tap.
