Bière de Mars, or "March Beer" - so named for the season in which the first bottles were usually ready to drink - was made from the best ingredients of the last growing season, and was heartier and more flavorful, meant to be laid down and drunk for many months. The chief aroma is of grain, in this case France’s famed barley and wheat malt, which is balanced on the palate by the refreshing and bitter fruitiness of great Alsatian hops.
