Zanthoxylum piperitum, called Japanese pepper or Korean pepper in English, sansho (Japanese: ??) in Japanese and chopi in Korean, is a deciduous aromatic spiny shrub or small tree, belonging to the Rutaceae (citrus and rue) family.
