Have another cold One! Just as your ancestors did, and that’s why you live in a civilized world. Or so says Brian Hayden, an archeologist at Simon Fraser University, in Canada. A key to the origin of the world we know was the cultivation of grains such as wheat and rice, but it was extremely hard work to cultivate, and provided only a small part of early civilized people’s diets. Their argument is that Stone Age farmers were domesticating cereals not so much to fill their stomachs but to lighten their heads, by turning the grains into beer. That has been their take for more than 50 years, and now one archaeologist says the evidence is getting stronger. Beer is one of the world’s oldest beverages, with the history of beer dating back to the 6th millennium BC, and being recorded in the written history of Ancient Iraq. So drink up and enjoy...your ancestors would be proud!
