I enjoy beers, but I am not a beer professional by any stretch of the imagination. I do not grade "to style," nor do I follow BJCP guidelines when evaluating a beer. What I do is take the experience at hand and compare to similar beers (whether it be to style, to season, or whatever). I also look at whether or not a beer supplies sufficient "bang for the buck" because ultimately it is a product for which one is paying.
