Don't overthink it. My taste seemingly tends to differ quite a lot from the average preferences on RateBeer. I don't do it on purpose, I swear. I simply rate it as I see, smell, taste, and feel it. I like it malty in winter, hoppy in summer. If my ratings average seems a bit high, it's because I tend to focus on rating beers I enjoyed. I try to have an open mind and no preconceptions.
