I've been on here since well before the relatively recent craft beer explosion. Over the years, I've become more focused on drinking beers I like rather than trying everything (not that that's possible!) The first beers to really blow me away were IPAs and imperial stouts, and not much has really changed. I still spend much of my time looking for, and consuming, great IPAs (both standards and imperials, and am a huge hazy fan), and big, sweet dark beers. Am starting to get into pastry and smoothie sours of late too. In terms of my ratings, anything that gets 4 or more is something that I think is outstanding. A rating of 4.4 or more suggests something I think is really special. Ratings of 3.7 to 3.9 are given to beers that I consider very worthwhile and enjoyable, whereas 3.4 to 3.6 represents brews I think are pretty decent. Ratings of 3 to 3.3 are given to brews that are just okay. Any rating under 3 suggests a beer that's disappointing at best and hideous at worst. [ less ]
