German. Former journalist, late 40s.
Anglophile, but never liked British ale all that much, with so little carbonation and always served at a little above room temperature - until I found out that all of that was just a load of crap! Well, to cut a long story short, the J.D.Wetherspoon Real Ale Festival and CAMRA’s Great British Beer Feastival of 2009 have totally won me over, and instead of Budvar or Beck’s, my freezer is now full of Fuller’s, Greene King, Morland and Ridley’s. :=)
Like the hoppy, citrus taste, but I’m increasingly attuned to the darker ales, the stouts, the porters, many of which seem to be drawing the highest marks among my own ratings now - Who would have thought? Can’t bear the bland lagers any more!
