Carolina Bauernhaus in Anderson SC is in the path of totality on Aug 21, and happens to be a great place with great beers. They open at 11am and totality starts at 2:12. They’re releasing special beers for the occasion: https://www.facebook.com/events/490016578004492/?acontext=%7B%22action_history%22%3A%22[%7B%5C%22surface%5C%22%3A%5C%22page%5C%22%2C%5C%22mechanism%5C%22%3A%5C%22page_upcoming_events_card%5C%22%2C%5C%22extra_data%5C%22%3A[]%7D]%22%2C%22has_source%22%3Atrue%7D |
I plan to be in Southern Illinois. Scratch opens at 5 and that is where I will be after. |

Got a couple here in Salem if you fancy a breakfast pint. |
We’re doing this at a winery, but I know there were breweries we could have gone to. Just seemed better to be away from city lights if possible. We’ll be found at some breweries later on Monday afternoon, though. Not fucking with that traffic. |
Yeah, I’m pretty concerned about getting around. I’m expecting gridlock on the back roads as well. |
The Rogue Farms tap room is going to be as close to the center of the totality path as you can possibly get. That was my original plan, but I’ll be in the hamlet of Brooks which loses me a few seconds of totality but allows me to hang out with a good friend. |
Ludlam Island in NJ is no where near the path but they are giving out free viewing glasses. I’ll be there. |
I’ll be at Big Muddy in Murphysboro, IL |
Originally posted by DrnkMcDermottI will be somewhere near, possibly at the Perry County airport which is about 10 miles north of Big Muddy. And then Scratch at 5 PM. |
Originally posted by joet I’m expecting a full-on shit show all weekend. Our original plan had us popping over the mountains to Bend on Sunday, but that plan was pretty damn stupid. |
