The response to the Hoppiest Indian caught us napping and we struggled to keep the kegs up to the taps around the countryside, let alone locally. Come on guys, stop enjoying it so much and give us some more time on the dry hops!
Oreti Red is the second in a series of beers that we have themed Red IPA’s and we think its getting us closer to our Red IPA bullseye. NZ pale ale malt, along with Munich, CaraRed and CaraMunich form the malt base.
A high alpha NZ hop and US Centennial again flip flop their way through the boil with both hops used in large quantity in a series of warm and cold dry hopping. We’ve upped the malts to give a ’fatter’ malt base to better harmonise with the high alpha hop resins, lifting the alcohol content to 6%. For your drinking pleasure and because we can, we have lifted the hops even more...
No style guideline, no compromise.
This time there’s plenty of Oreti to go around... that’ll give us time to work on our next beer – we’re going deep and dark. A pilot brew is fermenting as we speak. Dark, talented and a touch of mystery, and it has a working title... yes ladies and gentlemen it’s ’Grace Jones’...
