Loosely based on a certain abbey style ale known as a paterke, which is a chestnut colored Belgian ale around 6.5%. What makes this version distinct is the use of German smoked malt. The dry tart fruity yeast character interplays with the beechwood smokiness to make light bodied and refreshing yet unusual springtime ale.
