Marin / Green Flash Wimpy's IPA

Brewer: Marin Brewing Company
Style: IPA - Rye
Alcohol Content: 3.3%
Seasonal: Special

Description:
On Monday, February 11, 2013, Chuck Silva from Green Flash Brewing in San Diego and Arne Johnson of Marin Brewing got together to brew a new, one-off collaborative beer at Marin Brewing Company. The brew is a very sessionable Rye IPA. A true session beer at 3.3% ABV, Wimpy’s IPA will appeal to hopheads that are not seeking a high alcohol brew. Wimpy’s was made with a blend of European base malts and about 17% malted rye. The hops utilized were two relatively new varieties, Columbia and El Dorado. A few pounds of whole leaf Columbia hops were added to the mash, and the El Dorados were used for all of the kettle and dry hop additions. Over two pounds of hops per barrel were utilized. A high mash temperature was employed to ensure a solid mouthfeel in the finished product. Wimpy’s IPA will be available only on draught at Marin Brewing Company’s Pub and the Green Flash Tasting Room, and select accounts in the Bay Area and Southern California. The scheduled release date is February 28, 2013. Only 13 barrels were produced, so make sure to seek it out before it is gone.
