Bars Im going to spend a few days in NYC july 22-24 and Im trying to put a list of "must-see" bars/breweries. So far I only have these on my "must go" list: beer authority, torst, gingerman, barcade. :) (limited time, must visit other stuff) I really like IPAs and wanna drink as much american stuff as I can. (dont really care for imported stuff) Going to sleep in Secaucus, NJ. any other must-see places ? Trading Would be interested in trading for american IPAs & sours. I could bring some products from Quebec for Trading. (Trou du diable, Dieu du ciel, dunham, etc.) I could also bring a few gueuze from 3F/horal/cantillon or other products you dont get very often in NYC. [going to update my cellar on the site] Thanks in advance! Also, Im always open to have a drinking buddy for a day/night! :)

I would scratch Beer Authority off your list. Not too much exciting beer there, to be honest. Here are some must-go spots for Manhattan and Brooklyn: Blind Tiger Proletariat Ginger Man The Jeffrey Fool’s Gold Torst (if you have time and are in that neck of the woods, definitely hit up Dirck the Norseman for a very different and very good array of beers) Barcade Spuyten Duyvil/Fette Sau (the latter is an amazing barbecue place...tricky to get in, but if you can deal with the line, it’s worth it) I could potentially be up for a trade, but I’ll defer to other folks to get in contact with you on that front. I’m also up for hanging out during your time here. We post in this forum quite a bit so if there’s an event going on while you’re here, you can be sure one of us will post it. Otherwise, just let us know where you plan to be and maybe some of us can get out to meet you. Enjoy your stay in city!

I might be down for a trade for some of the higher rated Dunham beers or Dieu du ciel beers I haven’t had. Feel free to send me a BM.

While I’m not likely up for trades, since my wife and I will be up in Montreal at the end of August, I am certainly up for meeting up for some beers. I’m probably free any of those days, it’s just a train ride down for me so if you come up with a planned outing, let us know. I’m sure a bunch of us would come out and meet up.

thanks guys I’ll be sure to let you know when I’ll be going out! (prob. 22 or 24) Are the micro/breweries around worth a trip? Brooklyn, six points, Greenpoint Beerworks, bronx brewery, big alice (I will be there during the week and some places open only on weekends)

I’m not sure any of the ones you listed are necessarily must-visits. If you’re into IPAs, one good brewery stop for you might be Other Half, which I still haven’t been to personally.
|
Yeha I read about their IPAs, but unfortunately they are closed during the week: OHB TASTING ROOM NOW OPEN! Friday 5pm to 10pm Saturday 12pm to 10pm Sunday 12pm to 6pm
|
Yeah, you’re going to have trouble finding breweries open during the week. I guess the only thing that may fit in that regard would be Dirck the Norseman. Pair that up with Torst when you feel like hitting up Williamsburg/Greenpoint.

Dirck the Norseman is open during the week, but not during the day. I think they either open at 3:00 or 5:00. I would also stop at Brouwerij Lane if you are going to Dirck the Norseman as they usually have some Other Half IPAs on draft since you can’t make it there and it’s only a few blocks away. You’ll pass it if you take the G train to Greenpoint Ave stop. You can ask them when the Norseman opens as both are owned by same person.

Oh and Big Alice is only open Friday nights for bottle sales. Only one beer to sample on premesis.
|
Ill most likely spend at least a half-day in brooklyn then: brouwerij lane, Dirck the Norseman, torst, spuyten duyvil, barcade and theyre all within 40min walking distance :)! Imma keep an eye on beermenus for the OtherHalf IPAs :P
