Unlike jercraigs who planned an elaborate lovely tour all over Scotland (thanks for helpful thread) I will only be in this one city for one week August 10th through August 16th. My father in law planned a golfing holiday with his friends and I am tagging along. So basically its golf in morning and pubs at night.

I am staying at the Roxburghe Hotel which is pretty centrally located.

I really want to try Tempest Unforgiven Ale so hopefully i’ll be able to locate some if still around. Other than that no real goals other than to have fun. If there is any events or people just grabbing a pint i would more than likely be down for that.
cheers

If you find any of the Unforgiven let us know where, there are a couple of us in the midlands of England looking for it.

And enjoy, Edinburgh is a great city, but there are others who know a lot more about it than me to advise you on all the spots.

I’m in on the advice, as I have a long weekend there in October. Been before but want to visit different pubs/places this time around; so new, improved bars please.

<*))))))><

Some one needs to do some city guide posts, Edinburgh pubs is a pretty regular request! Definitely worth getting a train for an afternoon in Glasgow one day.

As far as Edinburgh goes...hanging bat, holyrood 9A, bow bar, cloisters, StockbridgeLeith, caley sample rooms, red squirrel, blue blazer,Brewdog

Appellation wines and great grog for bottle s

Vintage and teuchters in Leith.

But number one attraction is a tasting at Craig’a house

I’m sure I saw some Unforgiven kicking around recently. I think either Cornelious and/or Great Grog. Happy to send a bottle down to my Midlands brethren and hook up our foreign guest. BM if you want me to grab one.

Thanks for unforgiven intel I’ll be sure to check. The places section is very up to date plus the 8 page other thread covers personal thoughts on pubs which seems like won’t be an issue finding places to drink. Mostly just posting so that if anyone’s around perhaps could meet up.

The hanging bat is a must visit, great uk craft selection.
Bow bar always has some great cask ales and a wonderful scotch selection.

Have fun

well i’m a few day out from this adventure. Any recent sightings of the Unforgiven? Also I am trying to if possible get country ticks from Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey, and Isle of Man I realize the last two probably won’t happen but i’ll be looking for first two. It looks like my hotel is short walk to Hanging Bat so that’s a plus.

I’ve got an NI beer and I’m pretty sure you should be able to get an Otley (Wales) in Great Grog. Jersey/Isle of Man I’m not too sure about.

Should be around Hanging Bat on Thurs/Fri evenings perhaps.

You’ll probably be able to get a beer from Tiny Rebel (Wales) either on tap or in bottle at the Bat if you’re going there. Jersey and Isle of Man are a nightmare, let me know if you find either of them.
