54 Full of atmosphere but spartan. Toilet was broken. Friendly but slow service. Visited while Czech beer were poured, so good beers available. Hard to find but tramline 2 to the Central Station stops close by. Still worth an occasional visit I’d say. |

68 Vegan brewers in a former butcher's shop, I love it. Very sparse industrial location, tiled walls, small serving bar and some tables. No real view of the brewhouse, except for small peeks. Eight or so beers on tap and a lot more bottles. Sadly no flights, 25cl glasses are the smallest you can get. Beers are adventurous, sometimes they work and sometimes not. Worth a visit. |
70 Stripped down, minimalistic decorated taproom with white paint on the bricks. Six of their own beers on tap at our visit, supported by a rather amazing range of bottled beers from the brewery, at least 25 variants. Limited food options, we ha a plate with different cheese. Good beers, polite service, and friendly atmosphere. Mixed clientele, mostly beer enthusiasts, I guess. Backyard location, about ten minutes walk from De coolste Baan van Nederland, the Olympisch Stadion where we attended ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships. (Visited with Leif, Odd and May, 09.03.2018). |
82 In my opinion, Butcher’s Tears are the best beers in Amsterdam. And I know almost all of this city’so beers by heart. The place is a bit off the beaten path, which is clearly a plus, and it’s just simple, minimalistic and lovely. They could make the list of (their) available beers slightly longer, but I suspect there’s an element of randomness in their operations that may make it hard to do. In the end this is a pretty awesome place to chill out in any occasion. |
94 In a quieter, more industrial part of the city close to Haarlemmermeerstation but certainly not hard to get to (for the out-of-towners, you can take Tram 16 from Amsterdam Centraal). White and sterile (though not in a bad way), kind of like what you expect a hip butcher shop to look like. Very cool spot and the staff are playing their records behind the bar. Free bread and peanuts are a plus. Love this place. |

74 Hard to reach (or to get home from) off center place. Been here for concerts. Saw J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr (solo) and Guantanamo Baywatch in late 2015 / early 2016 respectively. White tiled up butcher’s shop with beergarten tables & benches, a few taps (2 ~ 6 max), some bottles (Butcher’s Tears bottles), not very much to choose from really but all were ticks for me at the time. I love the place for the events, spaces are tiny and the venue sound is crazy loud and distorted cause of the tiled walls, which is fun when you go see a noisy garage band but I wouldn’t consider the trouble of going there just for the beers. Event calendar/info is usually on their website. During events it can get really crowded and there can be a line of 30+ people at the bar. Not everyone comes for craftbeer at these events, but there’s nothing else, so grow a pair. X-P My non-craftbeer concertmates got pretty wasted on the 8%+ beers that were had as-if lagers ;-) International crowd. Lively during concerts, good times. + Barrel aged crafty beer during concert bonus points. |
68 Small brewpub far away from the centre and hard to find if you are here for the first time. Hidden between some garages, it is quite a weird place with white tiles at the wall, simple wooden tables and sometimes abnormal music, but overall the atmosphere is very relaxed. The selection contains mainly their own beers, including specials, of which around eight are from tap, a few more from bottle (I definitely prefer the tapped versions!). During my visit, De Ranke Guldenberg was also on tap, and we had an aged bottle of Carnegie Stark Porter as well. Prices are okay, although they vary quite a lot depending on the beer you order. Interestingly, the staff does not seem to speak Dutch, but they are, of course, knowleadgeable about the beer. Worth a visit! |
90 Geheimtip in Amsterdam. |
