| XmnwildX12 (14), Farmington, Minnesota | | April 26, 2012 Had a lot of beer options in the beginning, starting to run out of options and the price usually deters me. Their happy hour food is usually a pretty good deal, as well as their $3 Surly pints. | | BVery (227), Burnsville, Minnesota | | September 27, 2011 [ Updated September 28, 2011 ] I’m a fan - love the pizza, which has great buttery crust. Sports on the TVs. And loads of beers, even if most aren’t very high end or rare, you can usually find a couple that are worth ordering. | | ryanfolty (104), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | July 8, 2011 [ Updated November 23, 2011 ] Okay selection, okay food, but not a craft beer destination unless you live in the area and want to visit somewhere close.
Back again November 23, 2011 and it was better than my previous experience so ratings went up. Pizza is much better than the calzones and there were some decent beer options. | | hair-old (13), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | March 11, 2009 Guess the folks here think bottle beer
ages like French burgundy.I kicked back
4 different ones that were way past the exp. date on the bottle and went with a Bell’s on tap.Hoe-hum frozen pizza for big $$$.I have been to the Old Chicago in Eden Prairie and this one is a big disappointment. | mongo13 (1), Rosemount, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | November 24, 2007 great beer selection, nice round the world tour, nice location with outdoor seating | | GaltScat (19), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | November 30, 2006 If you like mainstream, popular sports bars, then you will like Old Chicago. The food is average for a sports bar; bland, pre-packaged, and over-priced. The selection of beers is relatively good. There are a large number to choose from. However, many are staled from lack of sales and improper storage. Also, the selection is mostly from popular lines. Genuine micro brews are beers are not available.
The service at Old Chicago results from cultural myopia. The staff suffer from arrogance and contempt; not good qualities in a service industry. Having difficulty deciphering the beer selections or wondering if something is currently available, the staff will certainly attempt to make you feel like you are stupid and unwelcome.
If you are looking for a large selection of main stream, macro beers, mediocre food, and narrow-minded company, then Old Chicago is the place for you. If your IQ is above 65, you don’t drive a pick-up truck or you make more than $20k per year, spend your money elsewhere.
| | PorterPounder (219), Tallahassee, Florida | | October 26, 2006 Visited here most recently in August ’05. Like the Roseville location, has a good selection of midwestern beers for an out-of-towner looking to rack up some ratings. Always seem to have something new on tap or in bottles and they have a big sign promoting it - so you are not fumbling around asking the waitress - "what do you have on tap and in bottles? " Food is decent and the service is friendly. Lots of choices from the menu. Family style restaurant in the style of a Chil’s or TGI Friday’s but with a decent beer selection. | | hellomynameis (30), Mayer, Minnesota | | November 3, 2004 The service at this Old Chicago was definatly not very good. Even the food wasn’t as good as the othe rlocations. Our deep dish pizza reminded me of Pizza Hut fare and my fiances calzone wasn’t fully cooked. I wont be visiting this one by choice again. |
