11 reviews for Haus der 100 Biere
| chriso (161), London, England | | November 20, 2009 A few good points. 100 beers are indeed a lot for a German bar. There is nowhere else very beery in the immediate vicinity and it seemed to stay open (and lively) quite late. Which made it a handy place for a nightcap as our hotel was nearby, so we visited a few times during the course of a week. Service was fine. Some bad points. The beer list was pretty run of the mill (especially the draught selections) with few German rarities. And padded out with a lot of international lagers and commonplace Belgians (which I don’t go to Germany for). Two of the three German beers on the list that I had not tried before were out of stock. The Mommsen-Eck house beer was presumably a rebadge but I never managed to find out what it was. So, overall, useful if you are in the area but probably of more interest to locals and country tickers than visitors seeking out new German rates. | | mcdav2154 (10), , Germany | | November 10, 2009 Although this place didn’t have a staff that knew the beers and the ambiance was less that average. I had a good time drinking the beers. The price was a little high but I guess the overall experience was average. I don’t know why other people rated the selection so low since I’ve never seen a place in Germany with over 100 beer options. The options were the biggest plus. | | bp (47), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | July 29, 2008 Haus der 100 Biere is located in a really nice area of Berlin. They had a nice outdoor seating area and a large menu. The beer selection wasn’t so great as none of the beers in my top 50 German beers that I hadn’t tried were available. They did have Aventinus in bottles so you can’t go wrong there, plus they had a number of common Belgians (this is probably one of the only restaurants in the city you’ll see a Belgian beer). The food was pretty good. I had the beer chicken and my wife went with a salad which was huge. Worth a stop if you are in the area but not really a great destination for someone that’s rated a lot of brews already. | | sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | July 29, 2008 Average food for average service.
They have a decent selection of beers with an array of typical German food that will keep you full.
I know of many other places in Berlin that are far more friendlier, and that have a lot better food.
Might be a good experience, but one time visit should do it. | beeroverwithme (1), Tønsberg, Norway does not count - explanation | | July 22, 2008 Hugely disappointing. Mainly because of slow service and an unfriendly staff that showed no interest in what they were serving.
Most of the 100 beers are on bottle, the selection was OK but not impressive. Most of the beers on tap are standard too but thumbs up for Weltenburger Kloster Asam Bock on tap. But that is the only positive thing I can say about this place. I will not return! | | Pyobon (11), Sydney, Australia | | October 11, 2007 It was fine, nothing special but with a reasonable range of beers. Didn’t try many due to lack of time, but would go back. | | cab (14), , Denmark | | July 19, 2007 For Berlin it is a good place, but not more than that, the wether was very nice (37c) so i might be rating too hige. | | voota (92), Melbourne, Australia | | July 3, 2007 This place was terrible, nearly all the beers were crap, I had some peat smoked effort from France that I could only have 2 sips of. The berliner kindl was better. Didnt eat, staff were pretty ordinary. I didnt like the area either, its all wanky.. and the prices in this place reflect that. | | altonbrownd (71), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | June 3, 2007 Visited their 2nd location, Mommseneck-Am Potsdamer Platz. Was able to add Namibia, Portugal and Switzerland to my list. And tried the Schneider Aventinus (superb) as well as the Berliner Kindl (awful). Service correct but although I sat by the bar was unable to pull the barkeep into conversation. Had 7 beers and hearty meal for under 35 euro. Crowd very middle of the road. | | Stew41 (71), Caulfield, Australia | | December 14, 2006 Smack bang in the middle of one of Charlottenburg’s (spelling) eating strips. Nicely fitted out with plenty of wood panelling and a decent amount of seating. Middle aged crowd midweek. 16 beers on tap although nothing hugely adventurous. 300ml glass should cost around e2.70. What is far more impressive is to 100 strong bottle list. Quite global in its coverage and should please most beer geeks although it should be noted that there’s a fair chunk of macro rubbish (but of course they appealing to the general market – fair enough). Most bottles priced at e4.0. Clearly a standout in the Berlin scene based on my brief 3 day visit.
