An amazingly beautiful pub, in particular the interior , wish is amazing. Good range of Oakham ales, and a couple of guests. Restaurant area serves great Thai food, which you can also eat in the bar.

Nice place, odd mixed clientele of different smells. Great prices, some of beers were only 2.6 pounds/pint. Staff were very generous with sample pours - even compared to the US these guys gave great samples. Beers were all good condition but was hoping for a bit bigger selection. Surprisingly the atmosphere was the biggest let down. Certainly not bad, but didnít feel as authentic as expected. Was there for lunch and thought food was reasonably good. Unless there is a big turn over of beers canít imagine rushing back but certainly a must for overseas visitors.

Driven past and worked near this pub on occasions for over 12 years now. Its only a 15 minute drive from my house. Yet never been until today. In one of the worst areas of Birmingham like an oasis. Beautiful interior. My visit was during middle of day and there were half a dozen CAMRA guys there. Beer was in top condition.

Wonderful traditional pub with amazing architecture and decor, Oakham ales on tap which are always on top form and good prices. To top it off there is a Thai restaurant serving top notch cuisine.

Decent little traditional English pub with four Oakham ales on cask (at the time of visiting). The rest of the taps at boring macro stuff and some ciders. The adjoining Thai food restaurant is a nice touch. Service was very friendly and the prices are standard, maybe on the cheaper side. Decent place - worth a stop if in the area, but nothing mandatory.

Ignore the location! The pub has the full range of Oakham Ales and an excellent Thai menu

Architecturally beautiful Victorian pub, now owned by Oakam Ales and regularly stocking 4-6 Oakham beers on tap, as well as Green Devil IPA in bottles, guest cask ales from other breweries, a changing draught from Kostritzer (e.g. schwarz, weiss) and some Belgian bottles as well. Interior is adorned with Minton tiling, a gilded staircase and painted stained glass, with snob screens around the wooden bar. Upstairs there is a boardroom and a large ballroom for functions and live music. Good value, good quality Thai food is served, both in the laid-out dining area and in the main bar, with plenty of choice, and the Oakham pale hoppy beers compliment it well. Very friendly managers and serving staff, who are happy to chat about beer and make you feel welcome. Mixed clientele of regulars, visitors to Villa football club, groups of friends and couples dining. Relaxed and friendly ambience. A place not to miss if visiting Birmingham, for the well-kept ales, great food and beautiful surroundings.

Gorgeous old pub, well run by Oakham and fortunately now safe and sound in comparison to so many Midlands pubs. A most visit just for the architecture.

Gorgeous place. As Blackhaddock says, you can almost imgaine what it would have been like at the turn of the 19th Century. Decent selection of handpump beers. The Thai food looked good, maybe next time.

I was there on a Telford and East Shropshire CAMRA outing, the place is a joy. The whole bus party were impressed from the first sight of the pub, inside it looks even better. After ordering my first pint I wondered round and loved it. Well maintained (sensitively restored in some areas), you can imagine what drinking back in Victorian times must have been like. All the beers I tried were excellant and the Thai food went down equally well. A far distance from the city centre scene, but well worth finding if in Birmingham.
