92 My 2nd of 2 stops in this part of South Birmingham having just arrived on the mainland. Parking right outside the shop & a friendly welcome and a passionate owner. A very good selection of beers, bottled & canned from around the UK & Europe. This would be my preferred place to start my next trip. |
80 Great beer store close to Cotteridge Wines. Actually we had not checked out this place in advance, so we just went to Cotteridge, like we have done before. When driving into town from there we noticed their sig and found parking just in front of the store, and it was well worth a look. They had a great selection of local beers as well as some national and foreign stuff. I would definately go back if in Birmingham again, and it is easily combined with Cotteridge and the nearby breweries. |
82 Medium sized shop with bunch of different beers. Very good selection of both UK and imported beers, but I'd say not a 1000 of them. Some good US bottles I haven't seen around a lot. They do have a good selection of ciders, even some ice ciders which are pricey, but I guess that's expected. Found some good modern UK beers I couldn't find elsewhere. If you're in the area pay it a visit. |
86 Very good one with wide selection of both local and world beers. I may want to travel for business to Bournville again |
94 For 40 years Stirchley Wines has been a force majeur in providing beer to residents of South Birmingham. Whilst the range is definitely smaller than its closest neighbours its obvious that a lot of thought has gone into carefully curating a range that is an essential guide to the great and good of brewing today from all corners of the world.
On top of their extensive selection of bottled beer; Krishan and his father (Amrik) have more recently introduced a growler filling station. A counter pressure filling system sits proudly on the counter and has an ever-changing selection of beers from the likes of Alpha State, Magic Rock, Marble, Summer Wine, Crooked Stave, Thornbridge and many many others for fans of taking fresh beer home with them.
The staff are friendly and approachable and above all else are incredibly knowledgeable seemingly about everything on the shelves. Happy to chat away and give personal recommendations about the wide ranging selection on the shelves.
With the recent focus on the regeneration of Stirchley High Street and the introduction/rapid development of the #StirchleyBeerMile this is an essential visiti if you ever find yourself in the region. |
88 An exceptional beer shop about 10 mins walk from Bournville station (or CotteridgeWines in the other direction). No space to drink in,but there's a really decent selection here. Not as big as Cotteridge perhaps but they carry a lot of different stock. Picked up a Founders, Anchor and Scherlenka, all of which were new to me (although many more 'exotic' breweries were available). Owner/manager very passionate about good beer. Another destination in this part of Birmingham. |
84 Great & extensive selection of beers from all around the world, arranged by brewery. The residents of south Birmingham are truly spoilt with here & Cotteridge Wines on their doorstep. |
88 What looks from the outside to be a normal corner shop has an excellent selection of worldwide offerings inside. Draft beer available for growler fills. |
84 Amazing selection, well-organized by country and by brewer. Staff guy is a beer geek, and likes conversation, so he’ll know what’s new and what’s interesting. Prices seemed reasonable. Street parking wasn’t too tough, but there are also some car parks nearby. Four or five taps as well. Worth going out of your way to try, and a must-visit if anywhere in the region. |
