| davidm (43), Melbourne, Australia | | April 15, 2012 Paradise on earth. Great selection of beers, delicious food, relaxed and welcoming ambiance, and helpful staff! Strongly recommended. Try the calamari. | | winkle (15), Brisbane, Australia | | December 24, 2011 The ’Next Door’ section is now open and has an outdoor section and additional taps and does growler refills on Thursdays. It also has the hand pump and usually the more interesting taps on rotation. They aren’t afraid to experiment either - recently had 4 of the local brewing clubs IPAs on rotation. Live bands on in the front section on Friday/Saturdays. Food is pretty typical pub grub but ok. Even has cigars! Has a good pretty relaxed vibe but can get a bit yuppie on weekend nites. Probably the pick of Brisbanes beer bars ATM, I manage to invest my time and money there regularly | | jonno (92), , Japan | | July 25, 2010 [ Updated June 25, 2011 ] Recently opened in West End. Purely Aussie micro beers. Tap list is nothing special (including bighead low carb beer!) but the bottles make up for it a little. Sunday is $5 bottles discounted from $8 or less. Nicely set up with books everywhere and lots of second hand 70s furniture. Staff were decent but don’t know too much outside the beers they serve, which is to be expected. Shows promise - hopefully can develop in to something special akin to the local taphouse..UPDATE. Tap prices are very reasonable, but only 6 taps and one hand pump. Have improved this though. Had Bling IPA (bit ordinary here), Kooinda Pale and the usual suspects (LC,WR etc). Bottle prices VERY expensive. E.g. Punk Monk 330ml $14.50, 3 Ravens USB 500ml $25 and Murrays Wild thing 330ml $42! Very loud music on Friday night too. Decent bottle freezer out the back for takeaway consumption. This place has picked up it’s game with some extra, more interesting taps going in recently. |
