I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is awesome and it’s mostly inhabited by locals rather than tourists. The kellerbier is one of the world’s best kellerbiers. All of the beers were at least above average.

10 beers avaliable. 4 from tap. Very friendly service. We were the only one visiting saturday night around 18. Decent Schnitzel. Right next to Lowenbrau

Brewery: large, giant JC statue outside. Sleepy vibe. We happened to return on a day they had a baumkerwa--tree planting party. Very pagan, very interesting. Got to try the St. Georgen Brau from a wooden barrel! Yum...
Keller: Gorgeous keller, not to be missed--extraordinary views, you can see Bamberg from up there! Lovely, peaceful, forested.

Located next door to the Löwenbräu, this is the more "bourgeois" brewery-pub of Buttenheim. Quite modern, but wood-and copper-covered walls and ceilings in the typical faceless german "noble-pub" design. But, don’t worry, they serve a good selection of the excellent St. Georgen brews and the german food is good as well. A good place on rainy days, on nice summer evenings everybody drinks at the Löwen- or the St.Georgenkeller on the edge of this little town............
