Kroger - Charlottesville (Barracks)

The best of the three Kroger locations in terms of the variety of beer. A good amount of singles, lots of locals (so if you’re an out-of-towner and want to try a bunch of Virginia beers you can do so here). Sometimes some really interesting sales... and they usually stock the variety packs breweries put out. Not going to find anything rare here, but you might find some good deals.

This has a pretty good beer selection, probably because it’s the Kroger store closest to the college community. Their prices are pretty competitive and sometimes you can find some stupid good deals here.

I guess I’ll rate this since it got added. Typical big grocery store. The beer selection is decent, with your typical big micros, locals and a crap-ton of macro. A few singles. Not as good a selection as either of the other two Charlottesville locations. This is the closest to UVA, and hence has the biggest macro selection, including a large walk-in cooler. They do have some nice sales every now and then, such as the case of New Belgium Shift I got for 2.99 a four-pack. Plenty of parking. As far as customer service, let’s just say when my business fires people they tend to work here.
