| brigg (11), Washington DC | | April 28, 2011 I’ve heard about this place so many times, so I was looking forward to it, but I was a little disappointed. They had good beers and the guy working there was really nice, and enthusiastic about beer, which I loved. But it didn’t have the selection I had hoped for. Still, if you happen to be shopping in the area (like at Whole Foods but didn’t see anything you wanted there), it’s easy to stop in. For those in central Charlottesville, though, there are more convenient options. | | Butters (164), Richmond, Virginia | | December 7, 2008 I Have not been to the downtown location, so I cannot really compare the two. I agree with dkachur about the *random selection* with *something cool* in the mix. Make sure to check in the far back left corner on the bottom shelf [its hidden away by boxes] you may just find a nice vintage bottle of something random. The old man was not as nice when I was there, kinda got the impression he just wanted me to get the hell out, but whatever, he still gave me a discount. Buy a case, even if its mixed, and you get 5% off. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | May 4, 2008 [ Updated July 10, 2009 ] This is not the beer location it’s downtown cousin is. Nevertheless, it does have some good stuff. Helpful, friendly staff. They give me a 10% discount just because I work for a competitor, which is incredibly cool. Kind of a random feeling selection, and every now and then you’ll find something cool. Really good sales from time to time. A friend of mine got an infected beer (the brewery’s fault) and they immediately replaced it with something about three times as expensive for free. Very cool. |
