| KAF (100), Coralville, Iowa | | February 8, 2012 The only thing that brought this place down for me was how packed it was and the noise level. The atmosphere was very go-go-go and the patrons did not appear to be the type you would see at a typical beer bar. That said they had a great selection of beers and provided flights at a good price. The bartenders were very knowledgable and helpful. I would definitely go back to this place again. | | seymour (37), Saint Louis, Missouri | | January 12, 2012 Forty taps, all high-end. About a million bottles from everywhere. Dizzying diversity, probably the largest I’ve ever seen at a bar. Bartenders were attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Not just knowledgeable about the current offerings and prices, but what is coming up, beer styles, breweries, ingredients, etc. Cool concepts for daily specials: local night, half-off half the taps, kill the keg, etc. Dim, casual, non-intimidating. I too wish they offered a little something to eat, but as long as they allow you to bring your own in and/or allow local deliveries, I can live with it. The only problem, the thing which keeps this from being true beer nirvana, is that iTap feels very expensive. Except for the aforementioned specials, pints were mostly 6 or 7 dollars and way upwards in some cases, and a sampler is over $15, I’m scared to ask how much a growler would cost! I get it: these are super-premium luxury items, so they are priced accordingly, and most of the clientel had a real "if you have to ask you can’t afford it" look to them. It would obviously be cheaper to buy these beers at a liquor store if you can find them--but you can’t in many cases--so the main iTap attraction for me is the possibility of finding extremely obscure beers for the first time. | brnqq7 (3), St Charles, Missouri does not count - explanation | | August 25, 2011 This is a fantastic craft beer bar with a huge selection of great beers. there are always 40 beers on tap, and they are constantly changing the taps so you will never get bored of the same thing. There is also a huge selection of bottles to choose from. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. There is also a nice crowd of people that love good beer and help others to select good beers. | | Toes14 (11), Ballwin, Missouri | | July 19, 2011 Went there on a Friday night in the winter. It was packed! The crowd was younger than I anticipated - about 2/3rds college aged or early to mid 20’s. Service was good despite the crowd and the bartenders were knowledgeable.
The place is starkly furnished, so don’t go there expecting to find a comfy chair to sit on. Funny thing - at 11:30, all of the college kids left and the place was suddenly fairly empty.
I wish they’d expand and add a kitchen with appropriate bar food. | | csaso (71), Missouri | | July 13, 2011 Amazing selection of beer from everywhere! Need to serve some food though. | | JAG55 (10), O’Fallon, Missouri | | April 2, 2011 [ Updated August 21, 2011 ] outstanding selection of tap and bottle beers!! service can be slow at times but very friendly and knowledgeable. No food served but locals will deliver. Great place!!!!!! | njordan (4), Missouri does not count - explanation | | March 11, 2011 Great selection and great service. Offers paddles of 5, 4oz pours. 40 Beers rotated on tap and a wall of coolers with bottles. Waitstaff either knew the answers to questions or was willing to go find out. | | jandd1983 (87), Florissant, Missouri | | February 22, 2011 One of the best places around to find a wide variety of taps and bottled beers. We tried a few and decided to take some others with us. No food at this time, although they will order from local establishments for you. They serve the brew in the correct glassware, quite impressive. Will visit again and hope to try some other taps. | | phaleslu (241), Saint Louis, Missouri | | September 14, 2010 The Chesterfield location of iTap is way, way out there for a city dweller like me. It’s easily a half hour from downtown St. Louis, down in the strip mall-infested flood plain of the Chesterfield Valley, and not far from Spirit of St. Louis Airport. As with the Soulard location, there are 40+ taps that rotate frequently and 500 or so bottles, so the selection is killer. Also like the Soulard location, there is no kitchen but you can bring in whatever food you want. The service is solid and the waitresses are hot. There isn’t much to say about the atmosphere except that it’s in a newish building near the end of what has to be the world’s longest strip mall. Inside, it’s a beer oasis, though. I had a great time here but unfortunately won’t be making it back much, save for the occasional special event, because it’s so freaking far away from the city. | | NobleSquirrel (161), Chicago, Illinois | | August 9, 2010 Quite a hall from downtown but a pretty cool place. They have a whole wall of coolers and about 30-40 taps, including Mikkeller. Pour a huge variety and seem to always be fresh. I’ll have to check out the new location downtown. This had a very suburban feel to it and it didn’t help that it was in the middle of nowhere. |
