84 One of the best chain craftbeer locations in the MD/DC/VA metro areas. The selections of craftbeers (and other liquors) are bordering on vast (OK...maybe damn large...but always want to use the word vast in a review...lol!). You have a legitimate chance of getting many specialty and seasonals here too. I’m from north NJ where their are no Total Wines...but this one is near a family member I visit...so I’ve been able to check it out a few times. Definitely the best place in the area (along with other Total Wines...don’t know if they vary much location by location though). |
80 In my opinion a typical Total Wine. Large store with a ton of beer that is available. They have a rotating draft selection for growler files which is nice. I often his this location up on my way home from work to see what is available. Rotating seasonal selection and rotating selection in general which is really nice.. |
70 Relatively solid beers selection for a TW. 3 clean aisles of beer. Not much in the way of limited seasonals, but they did have a really nice selection of the more common craft 6 packs. Plenty of Maine stuff featured, a nice bonus. Prices were fair. Service was non-existent. This place is located in the same shopping center as the Dogfish Head Alehouse, so it makes for a natural visit for passing beer enthusiasts. Worth a stop. |
78 Large selection of local and regional stuff, better than your average Total Wine I think. Manager knew his beers and had good recommendations. |
76 For the DC metro area this place has a very good selection. I don’t care that it looks like a supermarkert; I care that it has beer and stuff. It does have beer and stuff. I picked up 23 or so different beers when I stopped by (none of which I had yet had). The problem with this is place is, and of course I will sound like a snob, is that while they have lots of stuff they don’t exactly have the right stuff. For example, they have one beer by BrewDog, one by Mikkeller, and one by Nogne O. They have a lot of mid-range beers. Also, the selection looks more vast than it actually is because the bottles are arranged so that a number of the same beer face the aisle. In any case, I think I would rather shop here than in virtually any other place I have found in the area (so long as me friend drives me there of course). Prices are hit or miss. Some stuff is cheaper than average, while other stuff is significantly more expensive. |
74 Yes it looks like a grocery store but they sell nothing but beer and wine. This was probably the cleanest Total Wine I’ve visited. I also thought it was the best laid out. All of the make your own sixer stuff was on the same long aisle with the craft sixers. In fact you can take a bottle out of a sixer to make your own, if they run out in the sixer section. Also the selection available for make your own sixer was greater than you typically see, in part because they charge for the individual beer instead of selling it for a blanket price. The sales clerks knowledge of beer is hit and miss but they were friendly. |
78 Much better selection than the Sterling store from a mixed sixer stand point. Almost everything they have is available as a mixed sixer. The staff was helpful and actually seemed to know something about beer. They have a couple of different distributors then some of the other TW&M stores, so if one of the others doesn’t have what you want, they might. The beer section is well organized. (Though they do have cider stuck with the BMC... why??). The store is clean and well maintained. |
74 Good selection, good service. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, you can have them try to order it. |
80 Great service. I really thought they had a great selection and I found a lot to take (though I didn’t buy that much). Prices seemed to be on par for the area, but the selection here was the best for the places I’d seen. Would go back here, for sure. |
70 One of the largest selections I have seen in the area. They aren’t always getting new brews in, but the ones they have range from decent to excellent, and they do have many. |
