72 Back street 1830's corner pub with a old world feel. Marston's & Timothy Taylor beers on |
48 Busy corner pub in an up-market area of London. Lots of places to sit, hidy holes, comfortable. The beer range is rather restricted and all the beers we had were not of great order. Not a beer destination for me. |
66 Corner pub with a lovely enclosed garden area to the rear, the wood heavy panelled interior with defined areas around a central service area is a fine place to frequent as well, with a mix of cask and crafted keg options that make a visit here worthwhile enough. |
76 Very cosy old style english pub. Dark wooden panel walls, nice garden patio. Good selection of cask as well as some kegs. |
78 Nice old-style traditional pub. 10-20 cask and keg taps. Good variety of local craft beers, average prices. Cozy, a bit dark and loud place. Good place to sit over a pint or two at the evening. |
70 Visited on 5th January 2017. Lovely quaint old pub in the back streets of Kensington, it definitely is a maze with a lot of wood panelling and nooks and crannies to relax in, it’s a collection of small rooms and corridors. Beer range is decent enough with a solid mix of cask and keg, picked up a few new beers here but nothing outstanding. Ate here and the food was a little disappointing, service was OK, prices a little steep. It’s a pub destination for the venue but the beer is probably the best in the area but nothing to head out that far for. |
72 I went here on a stag do, never having heard of it before. Absolutely brilliant. Very old-fashioned, with lots of areas to explore. About eight real ales on, plus a smattering of craft keg and bottles: something for everyone. Most of the party were raving about the condition of the Tim Taylor Landlord, and my beer was in excellent nick. Maybe not a destination pub, but one worth knowing about. |
74 Old pub with a special old English pub feel about it. A good selection of taps, English breweries, and a good selection of smaller ones. |

84 Like many historic pubs, The Windsor Castle is exceedingly quaint, with hidden cozies, and a beautiful garden in back. Most English pubs are tied to breweries, and only offer the selections from that brewery, plus one or two "guest" beers on tap. Most independents, like the Windsor
Castle, have the same limited number of taps...five, maybe six if you’re lucky. I counted 14 at the Windsor, all but one on interesting beers from small independent British breweries that I had never heard of, and unfortunately, can’t remember. I was overjoyed that they had Landlord bitter on
tap from Timothy Taylor in Yorksire, that you don’t see very often in the south of England, so I didn’t check out the rest of the beers. I’m hoping that pubs like the Windsor Castle are a harbinger of a movement by English pubs expanding
their offerings. I’m also hoping that a native Londoner or kindly tourist can keep me honest and rectify my glaring failure, by enumerating the beers on tap at the Windsor Castle.
I revisited the Windsor Castle recently, and was astounded by the improvement of the menu items, including innovative renderings of classic dishes. Absolutely loved it! |
