tzachary (6), Knoxville, does not count - explanation | | April 29, 2012 Set in a building formerly occupied by a flower nursery, Chris has done a solid job bringing a laid back atmosphere beer-garden with a solid beer selection to Knoxville. The service is usually a function of when you go and ranges from over the top on a early afternoon weekday to mildly abrasive on a night with heavy greek folk traffic, but several of the staff members know their stuff which is always nice. The selection is hampered by Tennessee’s ridiculous beer laws, but the staff makes great effort in trying to stock what they can get their hands on. Overall, this is the best place in Knoxville to casually drink a variety of quality beers from across the globe. | Rrauth (5), , does not count - explanation | | March 25, 2012 Went here while driving through TN to get to St Louis. Wanted to find some local TN beers. They had very little because very few TN places bottle apparently. The lack of singles takes them down. I went on a good night. Yazoo was there with a Cask of Dry hopped IPA. It was good. The folks were very friendly. the whole place was more for beer drinkers, less for casual folks. I loved the open courtyard and enjoyed my brief visit. | | Lubiere (349), Ottawa, Ontario | | October 25, 2011 A cool little store in what I think used to be an old gas station (or was it a motel?). The nice thing is its possible to buy a pint while you peruse the beers selection or while sitting outside at the makeshift terrasse. Decent prices, knowledgeable staff, only thing, they dont sell singles. Selection is decent (given weird TN beer regs). | bigrobman (7), Knox-Vegas, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | September 28, 2011 Great place for a pint and perusing around selections. Beer store that has drafts you can indulge in on site. Beers that no one else in town has.
MONDAY 5K FUN RUN!!!! Big run beginning/ending @ BBM, with discounted drafts after! also does cool unveillings of beers- place to be- distributors know it, so you should too.
Also great folks- @ a wedding where distributor dropped off keg of Warstiener w/ wrong tap. Saturday night- who do I call?? BBM! Came through in a pinch. only place in knoxville w/ right tap. THanks again | | adayale (12), Texas | | August 11, 2011 Really nice little place. It has a lot of local beers along with a lot of beers from breweries from surrounding states. I was on vacation with family traveling through Knoxville on the way home and stopped by this place. My only problem with it is the fact that they don’t have borers and high gravity beer because Tennessee law says they can’t. So based on the fact that they aren’t allowed to have high gravity beers their selection is still quite amazing. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | April 8, 2011 If rated against what I see in TN this is the mecca but in reality..... | bluesandbarbq (1), Oak Ridge, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | February 3, 2011 Great new beer store and pub with a nice outdoor beer garden and great attentive owner. Chris, the owner, says he will stock anything that is available to him in Tennessee and special orders are welcome. Fair prices, very good selection with more added weekly, added bonus of growler fills of his own IPA and Wit along with the hard-to-get Yazoo Hop Projects and other special beers (he tapped the first ever keg of DFH 60 Minute in Knoxville), lots of glassware and growlers for sale, chips, snack, Tshirts... A much-needed store for this market area. I am looking forward to many visits to the Bearden Beer Market as it is already a smashing success! Kudos to Chris! The beer scene in Knoxville is looking brighter. | gsteph (9), knoxville, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | August 23, 2010 Not a bad place. I was initially unimpressed as my first experience there was a little over 2 months ago. The selection was no better than a grocery store. However, the selection has improved greatly since then. The service was great, "Johnny-on-the-spot" even. I can see this place becoming quite the gathering place on weekends. The selection is pretty good and I think the owners are doing everything in their power to expand selection and make it a success. I belive in order for this to really take off they are going to need to expand the entire square footage of the shop. The building is a little small to house a very expansive 6% stock. The beer garden area is nice but needs a little TLC. | | nearbeer (144), Knoxville, Tennessee | | June 6, 2010 [ Updated December 22, 2010 ] Ditto Lithy’s comments. They now have 6 taps, with 4-5 regionals rotating weekly, and growler fills. Bottle selection ’bout the same as Leaf and Ale, but its a more convenient location for me, with no cigar smoke. The place is a fairly hoppin’ hangout on nights and weekends if you’re into that. Local taco truck pulls in to the place on Thursdays for some great food. They also sell beer paraphernalia, hot sauces, fresh cheeses, etc. The bottled beer selection has improved, but still no mixed 6’s, singles, or discounts on cases. Update: this place keeps gettin’ better and better! Kudos to Chris, who works hard to bring the best possible to K’town, given the fooked-up state, monopoly-promoting, distribution laws. | | lithy (156), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | May 10, 2010 They’ve sold me, we’ll see if everything pans out but it has anything I could ask of a beer shop in Knoxville. First house beer is great stuff, the beer garden could turn out to be a very nice space. Some nice cheeses and snacks for sale, nice owners, good selection which will only improve if they can bring in some Nashville things. |
