82 Gorgeous interior with so many small details, fun signs, colorful decorations etc. Looks amazing with a great sense of humor. 10 taps with some dedicated to Bockor, LeFort, Musketeers, one local brewery, BBP. Not the wildest selection but some good beers. Beer menu is in line with Trappist beers, St. Bernardus, Viven, Alvinne etc. Order at the bar, okay prices. Fun place to hang out in. One of the snacks is a pack of Bugels with a whole pack of cream cheese for 6 euro. Fun hangout. The days of this place having more geeky craft are over. |
76 Finally made it to Kortrijk's foremost beer bar last week - unfortunately I never visited it when it was still run by the previous owner, as I came to understand that the 'beery' part of it has been tuned down a bit since then, with a less extensive beer menu. Still several interesting things on tap, though, including a Ghent beer I never even saw in Ghent itself; some of the tap beers were clearly past their prime, though, I guess this place simply does not attract enough craft beer lovers to keep it going, but it is to the current owner's credit that he advised against ordering certain beers because they were no longer in prime condition. Bottle list is a bit predictable, but does contain smaller breweries, if Belgian only (including a couple of traditional lambics - no rarities, though). Seems to have a kind of brown pub-like vibe to it, with a lot of attention for the music scene as well. I visited it on a relatively quiet night but I can imagine it being quite loud (and 'boozy') on a Saturday night. Still, clearly among the better options for decent artisanal beer in the town of Kortrijk, very reasonably priced as well. |
8 De geur van marihuana waait van de terras binnen. Uitbaters zeggen er niets van... |
72 A hole in the wall pub with a bigger outdoor patio. Pretty standard local selection, but an interesting small number of taps and couple of one off bottles. When in Kortrijk... |
80 Well worth a detour. Best of all several on tap. Good selection of beers from micro breweries. Enthusiastic staff. Beers good quality, glad I came, will be back! |
80 Nice beer bar in Kortrijk, centrally located. Small room, with a bar at the back, after a couple of wide steps (beware!). 10 taps, with good belgian classics and craft ones mixed with some really nice imports (Hair of the Dog when we visited). Bottle list is extensive, around 100 i guess, with lots of choices. Nice "No AB InBev crap served here" (or something similar) sign. Nice terrace outside, attentive service, fair prices and good vibe, strongly recommended if in the area. |
84 Located in the city center. Visited several days in a row, before and after ACBF. It was quite relaxed, even peaceful before the festival and total madness after the festival which was expected, I guess. Not a large place, patio outside. Great music, punk and rock combination, really enjoyed it, gets a bonus for ambiance :) There are 10 beers on tap, mostly Belgian alongside some imports like Magic Rock. Very nice bottle list with affordable prices, Belgian modern craft, lambics, imported stuff - a little bit of everything. As good as it gets in a small place like Kortrijk, a must visit. |
80 Gezellige bar in Kortrijk. één van de weinige plaatsen waar je een buitenlands bier kan drinken. Wel veel bieren geschrapt op de kaart. |
76 Funnily laid out (the high steps up to the bar are not exactly customer friendly), very interesting selection for a Belgian bar outside the major cities. Competitively priced and with a welcoming atmosphere. |
78 We visited Gainsbar Thursday 11th March 2016, This Café is located reasonably centrally a few minutes walk from the Grote Markt on Vlaasmarkt. It was a gloriously sunny day so we sat outside, there were a couple of other tables already occupied with folk doing the same. This is a smaller bar than I expected inside, the bar is ahead as you enter, but be aware as there are a couple of steps up to it. Inside there was a few tables and chairs stairs to the RH side of the bar led upstairs to the toilet, I would imagine this place would be quite difficult to access if you were disabled or used a wheelchair. Information about the beers available is displayed prominently to the LH side and on a pillar at the bar. There were ten taps dispensing a good choice of beers, we had Mikkeller Monks brew, Handbryggiet Flemish Brown with Cherries and Gulden Spoor Quad on tap and Loz also had to have an Orval. We also had a plate of cheese with mustard and celery salt, it was a huge slab of Jonge Gouda. The barman knew his stuff, he was very professional, however he didn’t appear so friendly or in the least bit chatty, which is fine I guess, perhaps at just after opening it was a bit too early in the day for him yet. We liked it here it’s a great bar and on beer choice alone probably the best in town I shouldn’t wonder, however for us, taking everything else into account it was bettered by Staminee Boulevard and Café In De Wolken. |
