80 A lovely Art Deco building at the top of Dale Street, plenty of beers to choose from with up to 10 cask beers/ciders and a multitude of exotic looking craft keg options. Visited early doors so it was quiet, staff are really good, not in your face hipsters telling you what to drk, but happy to offer guidance if asked. It's effectively multi-roomed, with the front bar all in wood and the back bar and bottle shop area more upholstered. Great pub to kick of a Dale Street crawl |
68 40 taps, many of which are casks. The place is deceptively large. Classic English pub, with mostly traditional styles, but also some new-world craft styles. 1/3 pints available. I went mid-afternoon on a Saturday when it was absolutely jam-packed, loud and with only standing room at that point. So beware of visiting at peak hours. I was entirely wowed by the beer list, but with this large a list, you pretty much have to check it out when you're in town. |
82 Needed to stop this as the top rated place in Liverpool, and it did not dissapoint. Very classic old English pub, probably early 1900s, with very little renovations, very cozy. 10 casks (8 beers, 2 ciders), 30 taps (3 ciders, 27 beers), all available in thirds at anywhere between 1 to 3 pounds. very inexpensive. The kitchen was closed but they do offer scouse stew.
A must in Liverpool. |
82 A bit of the city center, a nice walk ;). Great on brews , tons of bottles - nice staff.Nice with small pours. Wee smell of pee - guests look decent, tough. |
92 This was one of the times I hope for. We located Ship & Mitre on a stop in Liverpool while on a cruise around the British Isles. A lengthy walk to get there, well worth it. I had a pint of their own porter and likewise a half-pint pour of stout that I would call an imperial stout since it was 12% abv. The friendly barman , Graham, guided me on my choices, advice well taken. On leaving I picked up a few quality bottles from the continent they had for sale that I’m taking home with me. Easily one of the best beer-centric bars/pubs I have darkened the door in. |
74 A massive traditional pub with impressive amount of keg and cask lines. Good selection of mostly local ales. |
60 Had high hopes for this place and was disappointed. I'm not fan of bars which have bar in the middle and sitting areas around it. This usually means that you have no idea of what's on taps ('cause they tend to repeat themselves in corners) nor does staff know what's going on around them beside their own corner. That was exactly the case here. Place was quite full as well so it didn't help either.
Anyway we had our beer here and ate some scouse. Might come back, but not on Friday evening. |
80 Worn old-fashioned pub with tons of beers. 7 of their own (Flagship) beers om on our visit. Lots more. |
86 Old school traditional pub. Great beer selection, both from cask and keg. Fair prices. Friendly service. Not to be missed when you are in Liverpool. |
84 Old meets new. Some great handpumps alongside their own beers and guests. Definitely unique. |
