Food and a decent tap list is always a nice combination but this place has been over-crowded on both of my visits and I’ve hit the road for less crowded places both times. On my last stop the tap list seemed a little spendy too.

Have been here a few times. Pretty plain bar, but always have a number of unique regional taps, special releases. Release events are usually pretty nice too.

Dexter’s is a great neighborhood bar on the Eastside of Madison. The bar staff is always friendly and reasonably knowledgeable about whatever beers are currently on tap. I agree with Nup that they really shine on the taps, which are rotated quite frequently. The menu has recently been updated and is a step above the normal pub/bar grub, with some eclectic daily specials. The hot pretzel with a choice of several mustards or cheese goes great with beer. The desserts, typically on the weekends, are out of this world good and often incorporate one of the featured tap beers as well.

Dexter’s is a great beer destination in Madison. Not much of a bottle selection, maybe two dozen max. But they really shine on the taps, which are rotated quite frequently. The Facebook page is updated regularly. The food is standard pub fare for the most part, with some daily specials.
